I think it was some footage of the outlaw bikie gang blowing up zombies, as they break into the shopping mall? |

I will check that out! I remember many years ago reading about the original ending but no one could remember filming it despite there being still photos of the props being tested. Actually in the first 3 Romero Dead movies there's very little out there about deleted scenes and outtakes. I don't think I ever heard anyone involved talk about scenes they filmed but were never used.

I don’t think any have been released officially? Do they still exist? This film is still (relatively) recent, but sweet FA in the way of deleted scenes - plenty of behind-the-scenes footage exists and has been released. I was so hoping for the rumours that deleted material from NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1968) had been discovered were correct. ![]() Still, I can’t complain too much, as my favourite of the original trilogy - DAWN OF THE DEAD (1978) - is available in three (now four) different cuts. |

Something about the Night Of The Living Dead footage seems off to me. I do think there is a slight chance that the story was correct and there was footage there and for whatever reason it wasn't released but if they say it isn't there then....I guess not. What threw me off was I was reading comments saying that this footage which had shots of zombies in the field, George talked about it and how it had been in the original version of the movie but the distributors requested it be cut and I had never ever heard George talk about any deleted scenes. Unless I'm wrong about that, I don't own every release nor have I seen every George interview but up until last year when I was really keeping an eye on that thread, I had never heard anything about deleted scenes.
The only thing I know about Dawn is the original ending which you can see them practising for, but no one could remember if it was filmed or not. Never any word from the actors on it. Day of the Dead is the same way, none of the actors ever mentioned any deleted scenes, George never talked about any. There has to be something there. I just don't know how all these movies can be released as many times as they have and yet no one asks these questions. And when those cuts were being made for Dawn? Surely they had more footage to work with? Alternate angles etc. I would love to know what the situation is and what exists or maybe someone close to the situation doesn't want fans to know. |

somehow i don't see that happening. if thre is no physical media then you will hae no choice but to download. with the exception of real hard core fans most won't spend the money to download what they already have just to get a few seconds of footage. makes more sense to add on to blus now to entice those who care and of course get new buyers as well. once you don't have a choice options tend to drop off greatly as they know they have you by the balls anyway

Nobody should feel bad about missing out on this new German set. Really the best thing about it is the packaging. That's cool at least. Trust me, the transfers are really bad and I prefer watching the older Dawn Ultimate Edition DVD's over them. Although I can't speak on the newer 4K transfer of the Euro cut. I haven't seen that one.
The Complete Cut is semi-interesting, but I don't give it much credibility considering it has nothing to do with any of the original creators (Romero, Argento, etc..). They had absolutely no input, so it's really nothing more than a fan edit. |

Ken Foree was there, and that was pretty awesome. He said he followed it across the US, when it was first released. It was very cool in 3D, and I consider myself a 3D aficionado, but it's not exemplary. I am happy to see the 4K Italian release, but I would very much like a remastered 4K version of the US theatrical cut, which was the first one for me, and will always be the standard. The 3D conversion was this cut, and quality-wise, it looked amazing. I have had: Thorn-EMI VHS HBO Video VHS Image Laserdisc Japanese Super-Deluxe Silver Laserdisc Box Set Anchor Bay DVD Anchor Bay Box Set Divimax Blu-ray Japanese 30th Annivsary Blu-Ray deluxe Box Set (also silver!) Italian 4K 2160p I always thought the domestic Blu-ray looked great, but I also came from VHS on up, and every release was a fairly significant improvement. Looking back, not sure why I have been compelled with this movie, but it does touch a lot of places in my life. Somewhere, I have a framed stationary from The Dark Half, signed by George Romero, that says "Stay Scared!," signed to me. I have met Tom Savini, and my roommate in the early 90s worked on make-up effects on Day of the Dead, and a few other Romero pictures. If Criterion, or anyone else, releases a US version in 4K or 3D, I'll be buying that too. There is essentially no way, that Rubinstein is going to make back his conversion investment, no matter what he does. There is simply not enough overall interest in this classic these days. There are too many ways to get media now, and the industry killed 3D. I wish he had just released it on Blu-ray 3D, immediately after the screenings, when there was at least some potential market. That said, after all those years, it was awesome seeing it in a theater, with an audience, and in 3D. Something I was just a bit too young to do in 1978. |

I forget where I got this idea, but my impression is that the movies (at least the first and third, it applies less to "Dawn") were so low budget that they limited themselves to shooting only what they needed and using all the scenes they shot. I would assume there was still alternate footage and additional angles, but it's rarer for that stuff to survive over the years unless it made it into an early cut somewhere.
