I think it's been mentioned, but it sounds like we might not have to worry about that anymore, as there is a chance that the rights have been picked up.

At least every 1-2 pages of any Dawn thread someone suggests this.

Sorry if I'm treading ground that was well covered some pages back in this thread. Is there more confirmed than them using a piece of the movie poster image in a vague announcement teaser? Even though that does feel like a safe enough confirmation. But was there any more than that?

edit: Here's where Second Sight entered the discussion, for anyone needing to catch up https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...18514&page=114

I just hope this isn't a repeat of Return Of The Living Dead where Second Sight puts out a region B locked, definitive release of this film and then years later an identical version of it gets released in the U.S.. I missed out on the Arrow release so I will be buying this no matter what....

In late February through early March, BAM is having a Romero series and Richard P. Rubinstein is going to be there for the March 2nd screening of DAY OF THE DEAD and the March 3rd screenings of KNIGHTRIDERS and MARTIN. If anyone on the East Coast wants to attend and harass/ask him what's up with DAWN and MARTIN...

Such a great idea! Strange that he's not going to be a Dawn screening?

Would never happen. Just like the past 15 years or so and all the crying on the internet about the Star Wars OT. Year after year of being able to hound, boo, chant, anything at Lucasfilm and now Disney at all these cons and these people eat the shit they are told with a big grin on their faces and cheer their asses off at the dumbest shit.

Nah, that's more of a Re-Animator situation, since the Shout! blu of ROTLD had to exclude a song by The Damned in the original soundtrack option.

The Second Sight RotLD steelbook is Region A, the special features were locked from what I remember. Then Shout released theirs and blew the Second Sight away.

Not quite. It was Region B locked, but could be bypassed with the Top Menu trick on practically all players. The movie and the More Brains documentary were HD, and would play fine, but everything else was in PAL format, so if you're TV or player couldn't handle it, it wouldn't play.

The Scream release is the best one, but I like having the Second Sight release as well, due to the steelbook and it having the FULL original soundtrack (not that Scream didn't try, of course).

Either way, I'm upgrading this regardless of the region coding.

I guess it's possible a US label does have this, but just hasn't announced it yet. Maybe it's Scream Factory, maybe it's Criterion, or maybe even Arrow has it for US-only (unlikely, but you never know)?

Synapse has been pretty much quiet for all of 2018, it'd be one Hell of an announcement that they remastered all three cuts with a collaboration with Second Sight. Most likely not the case (I don't know much about Synapse other than them being mum for 2018) but anything is possible.

Hell no. I'd rather anyone but Synapse get US rights to this. No one wants to wait 10 years for them to release it. Rubenstein might as well hold on to it.

I still think it's very possible the Second Sight release will be region free.

For anyone in the NYC area, Brooklyn Academy of Music will be having a George Romero retrospective from Feb 22 - Mar 3. They'll have Dawn of the Dead in both 2D and 3D showing. Rubinstein will be a guest at a few of the shows.
