Possible. Unless something with another label has been specifically announced, I know Jackson himself has confirmed his early horror/gore flicks would be seeing 4k in the coming year or so.

VS already turned that down. They also said it's not what any of us were thinking. So it has to be some obscure titles.

^ This. So many labels re-issue movies with new interviews that basically just re-iterate stuff the same people said for a making-of created a decade or more ago for the DVD release, so what's the point? Just to see how the director and/or actors have gotten even OLDER? If the Second Sight Blu were just an HD re-creation of the Anchor Bay 4-disc DVD set from 2004, with all of the extra ported over, I'd be thrilled.

Not to mention, what is there to create or critique about the film that the Anchor Bay set didn't already do? The only new material that could come is a look at how relevant the film is forty-one years later and a documentary dedicated to Romero.

Is that the one where someone said Scream Factory almost had it then Rubenstein torpedoed the deal on the day it was supposed to be finalized?

I don’t think he specified the label but otherwise yes.

In a nutshell, it's because SD looks cheap so they want to be able to tout new HD supplements.

I like a mix of contemporary and retrospective interviews, retrospective ones often say things we've always wondered over the years

I think there’s a case to be made for DVD-era or older supplements and interviews being more important/valuable than something newly created in 2019. Human memory only gets worse over time, so the same person in 1998 may have remembered more or given more elaborate answers to the same questions asked 20+ years later.

Who cares if a bunch of talking-head interviews are in SD?

If I were an interview subject from a movie made 41 years ago I'd probably WANT it to be in SD :P

Come on, dude, I know that you're experienced enough on this website to have seen that people complain all the time about stuff like that.

I think that's a good point, but it's not the whole point; there are definitely cases where people hold back for years, either because they want to keep working or because they don't want to speak ill of somebody while they're still alive or because they don't want to open the can of worms.

I think he's just asking the question WHY do you need to see a wrinkly old talking head with the most clarity on the liver spots possible when the exact same information would be conveyed without?

(Specifically to interviews being re-filmed, not holding back an existing HD version. Of course releasing newly filmed interviews in SD would be nuts)

That just sounds plain ageist to me. Perhaps it's just nice to see them again. I always appreciate seeing what people look like today, and how they've matured or aged. Particularly if they are somewhat lesser known actors, or had a smaller body of work - which obviously isn't the case here though, at least not in the former regard. In my case, it makes me feel even fonder of them, and perhaps just a bit closer or more connected. They're not just a timeless "set piece", you really identify with their humanity. But all in all, I think those "liver spots" should just serve to remind people that we won't have them forever and what a treasure they really are. In an odd way, I think such new interviews - even if retreading old territory - could enhance the viewers appreciation, even if they feel there isn't more room for such already. At the very least, consider it a nice trip down memory lane with old "friends".
Older people always like rehashing the same stories anyhow (thinly veiled ageism for punctuating effect).

I'm not describing my opinion, I'm just telling you two relevant facts, SD video looks cheap and thus it's generally deprioritized when compared to HD supplements. Some of it is marketing people, who are trying to justify their jobs, and some of it is complaints from customers. (If you pull a disc off your shelf at random, I'd bet that the biggest text on the back of the box will be describing the "NEWLY CREATED HD BONUS FEATURES" [or similar language].)

If I've misread you and you're just asking me to speculate about the reasons behind other people's opinions, I would imagine that it's a variation on the old "10% of how people respond is based on what is being said, 90% is based on the presentation".

Default Best version of Argento's Dawn of the Dead Cut?

Hey folks!

I own the Ultimate Edition DVD set of Dawn of the Dead, but after looking at all of the different overseas BluRay and 4K editions of 'Zombie', I am absolutely overwhelmed; what is the BEST xfer of the Argento cut that I can get on Blu or 4K? I LOVE Argento's cut and want an HD version, but what should I go for? Thank you!!!!
