If you feel more comfortable calling it a cult classic, that is also true

No opinions are decided for me. Never have been, never will be.
Just doesn’t work that way. If a bunch of people like a certain color doesn’t mean that is decided for me. Just like labeling a piece of art.
It can be decided for you. Just not for me. Ya see, that’s beauty of that whole opinion thingie.

Can one person decide if a movie is classic then?

One person can have an opinion.
Classic = opinion. It’s not grounded in fact. Can’t be quantified.
It’s that simple.

Any speculation on the Blu-rays actually working on A-locked players is just that: pure speculation. Once the sets are released we all will be wiser and maybe the region lock will be bypassed. But that is highly doubtful as Mr. Rubinstein surely would insist on region locking so he can sell the rights to other territories.

Thanks for the reply I got this from Bloodydisgusting they mentioned that Region B are inherently Region free. I'm also not technical at all. I bought the 1990 Remake of Night of the Living Dead which was Region B and also The Blob Remake so it seems some work some don't.

This is what led me to believe it was good to play on US blu ray players. This was from the Bloodydisgusting article.

"Take note that this is a Region B release but 4K Ultra HD discs are inherently Region Free, so if you’re living inside the United States you’ll want to pre-order the 4K Ultra HD set through Zavvi’s US website. The first three discs are 4K Ultra HD discs, but the fourth disc (even in the 4K Ultra HD set) is a Region B Blu-ray and you’ll need a Region Free player to play it."

Yes. If I decide something is 'classic' then it's classic. Don't care if others disagree. Just like I don't care if someone says something is a classic and I don't agree. THAT'S the way it works

Doesn’t look like they mentioned anything about region B being region free. They state the UHD discs are region free which is true, but specifically mention the bluray discs being region B and needing a region free player to play them.

They are saying that the UHD discs will be region free but the blu-rays will not. UHD discs are inherently region free. Regular Blu-ray Discs can be region locked.

me too, but tbh i have heard of a lot of people that did not see the 1978 original back in its time, prefer the 2004 Zach Snyder remake to the original.

I like the original better (almost always do with films) but it really helps to have the nostalgia factor handy (having watched it back when it came out, or relatively soon thereafter).

I love Dawn so much, but it’s like several viewings in that I ended up loving it. Like 80s Carpenter, it’s typically repeat viewings that hook you.

I hope if a first viewing of Dawn of the Dead falls short of expectations from its reputation that at some point it be given a second chance viewing.

I think the problem with younger viewers is that there have been so many cheap zombie knockoffs over the decades after this was released, that to them it might seem as just another old low-budget horror film. They don't understand the impact this movie had in the late 70's/early 80's. This stands alongside Halloween as 2 of the most influential and classic horror films ever.

Now if DD does not ship my Second Sight 4k set in November, I'll be devastated.

Money and/or ego.

A certain producer/rights holder should get off his high horse and honour his friend. George was a filmmaker whose work deserves to be appreciated by all. He worked with the same group of people in different eras in different locations.
He was a thoughtful guy who cared about what he made.
It's really disheartening that a producer who he called a friend. they worked together on 9 productions that George was director (and some others with George in another capacity).

Hope Richard sees clear and does the right thing: forgo the money (or at least lower the large asking price) and get the film out there. Get this on a boutique label in Region A AND also get this on a streaming platform.

And do the same for Martin.
