I’m just ready for SS to come out with MARTIN. It’s been a long time coming. If I recall, the on-location special features were shot in 2019.
Yes. There was a facebook post from SS with the likes of John Amplas and others exploring locations.

I don't think it would have done any good. I've sent out a few e-mails over the years to that site and never got any sort of response.

If anyone knows to get an e-mail out to that company that actually works or responds, let me know. I'll contact them right away.

If I'm remembering correctly, it was Rob Galluzzo, before he was outed as a harasser of women used to occasionally help out on Scream Factory's special features and co-host the Killer POV and Shock Waves podcasts, who said that Rubenstein walked away after a year long negotiation with an unnamed label that was willing to met his ridiculous price.

hahahaha wow
Is Rubinstein a rapper?

From all I've heard about Ruby over the years, it could easily have been real.
That is why I jumped at the UK 4K set, just in case something got in the way and it went away quick and without a non-LE to follow. Glad to see the standard versions coming out for those who didn't want to invest $90+ on the limited though, would not hold my breathe on a US version anytime soon.

Yeah, I'm about 95% sure I'm getting the Second Sight release now. I really wanted a US label to release it, but I'm not sure if it will happen.

The only thing that has given me some hope is that it sounds like Geek Gab seems to know something about a release and they seem to have some sort of connection with Criterion, so maybe it's a Criterion release that's coming. Still, I'm not going to hold my breath anymore.

It's just really frustrating that such an important movie is being held hostage by a Rubenstein or "Ruby" as you referred to him. If there was a way of sending him an e-mail, I'd send him one right away to share my thoughts.

Seems like your spidey-sense has waved. What was once sure, is now more unlikely.
But that's not a dig at yeah. The Romero-Rubinstein union films just seemed to be stuck, for a while.

One can pray and hope for them, but not to be pessimistic but they seem unlikely. But I'm willing to be surprised. Truly.

I wouldn't be surprised if Criterion has it, but the only issue with them who knows when they will release it. Could be this year, could be next, etc. Either way, they and VS are pretty much our only hope for a US release it seems.

You also want to take into consideration that Criterion isn't going to go 4K any time soon (if ever), so might as well grab the SS UHD and call it good until someone makes it happen on this side of the pond.

If Mill Creek somehow managed to get this (They somehow got RAD!) I would pretty much shoot myself. I guess their Ultraman sets are OK though. So there is a slimmer of hope, but not much. I'm not sure how they would handle something of importance.

I can’t imagine being happier with a release than I am with the Second Sight box. If you’re 4K or Region free BD compatible, you could go with them and not worry about who releases it here. Diabolik has the non deluxe editions up for pre order right now.

Yeah, I think it will be hard to top and it's something I plan on getting.

However, it just really IRKS me that this film doesn't have circulation here. Even with the Second Sight release there still should be a release comparable here. I know a number of people who refuse to buy foreign releases for whatever whacky reason, but it's still the case.

Dawn of the Dead is a very important film to not only the horror genre, but film in general. The fact that a nut job like Rubenstein has stopped this from getting a release has been infuriating because it's a film that truly deserves a lot of attention and love.

I truly wish there was a way of letting him know to get off his high horse.

Did they ever respond back to you regarding the boxset?

Nope. I've sent them private messages in the past and they never respond. The only time I get responses from them is when I ask during their Q&A sessions on Instagram.

Great take on it. It truly is one of the best films in horror and def in the top 10 out of the 70s.
And I hope someone can use that to convince DR that this film needs a region a, along with Martin.
