I would rather not.
Even though the original mix was mono - if the separate stems for Music, Dialog & Effects are available it can be re-mix completely for 5.1, 6.1, 7.1

Originality is a dead art.

They can mix it in Dolby 46.1 for all I care, as long as the original 1.0 is included for we purists.

Remember that the Japanese Blurays of both the Theatrical and Extended cuts are encoded in RGB PC Levels as opposed to RGB Video Level standard. A quick dip into the shaders of Mpc-BE and selecting 16-235 to 0-255 [SD] [HD] while watching on a htpc and they are like different movies with the deep blacks and colors I was expecting.
The Argento cut is not affected with this RGB problem but the master used is not in the best of shapes and looks the same as the other European Bluray versions available of that version.

I noticed the ghosting on another TV (Sony) that I bought and returned. There was this smearing that looked really strange. I bought a Samsung and it plays better on that one. Weird.

Depends on how much processing is going on inside the TV, they're not all the same. I'd make sure to have all types of motion interpolation & detail enhancing modes turned off when watching it.

Got the Umbrella edition today, it looks like the Arrow master to my eyes, and it's probably not a coincidence it's got the same audio options (DTS-HD MA 5.1 + PCM 2.0) and the two audio commentaries, all encoded exactly the same as the Arrow. It's not the exact same disc as it's got its own extras, but the video encode may be the same one, I'll have to do a BDinfo scan on it.

And just to add: it confirms what we've all thought, that Rubinstein has been peddling the same problematic elements and problematic transfers of those elements for the best part of 20 years. Dawn needs a lot of care and attention to bring it up to modern video standards and I hope someone, somewhere comes up with the goods soon.

Still, the Umbrella disc with the Arrow A/V encode for £8-something quid is a very nice alternative to paying £60+ for the actual Arrow version. It'll do for now, and I've also got the French BD of the Argento cut with the botched 'screen door' transfer.

Well, my guess is that we'll have a nice Blu-ray release by the end of the year.

"It is getting the same kind of care, love and attention to detail that went into converting The Titanic," -Richard P. Rubinstein on the 3D conversion.

They certainly had to restore it properly in order to make the 3D conversion we've been waiting for years. Now, let's hope it's been properly restored and in 4K. I think Synapse could be the right people to do that.

Good news. A trilogy set from Scream Factory is looking very possible.

If it's coming from Shout Factory, that isn't good news.

Isn't this quote regarding the 3D conversion an old one? I swear I've seen this quote forever ago.
