Hey Duke. You were right about Dead Zone.
Could you use those powers and be right about a Region A DotD?

So I guess my Anchor Bay isn't worth more than it's original retail price now?

Are you talking about the Blu-ray? The cheapest price on eBay is $50, and that's without a case.

Seeing as how the Second Sight release is Region B, is not cheap, and not everyone in the States has a region-free player, I'd say the Anchor Bay Blu-ray will still sell for far more than its retail price.

the way I see it...the demand for the Anchor Bay & Arrow blu-rays of Dawn of the Dead have significantly gone down for serious physical media collectors who are Region Free and/or own a 4K UHD player, but remain desired options for those who are stuck with being Region A and standard blu-ray only.

Yup, and there are enough folks who haven't or won't upgrade to keep the old disc worth something. I thought it woul be back in the $10 range by now. So only people who aren't RF or 4K, or just want a personal home video musuem, would want the AB disc now. I still have mine, not sure what I'm gonna do with it yet. I have some musuem pieces, but am not really trying to open my own musuem.

I always loved those lines from the narrator in the original theatrical trailer:

"We have spawned our own savagery. Soon it will consume us all."

"It is a horrible, hauntingly accurate vision of the mindless excesses of a society gone mad."

I have the AB blu-ray but I've been wanting to retire it. It's autographed by a handful of cast members, so I ordered the 4K of the Second Sight release. Now watch Scream Factory announces Dawn soon LOL

Thank you for your sacrifice. I hope the blu-ray gods notice and that comes true.

[Show spoiler]I desperately want a Region A of Dawn. And Martin.

Why don't you go region free? Best decision I've ever made as a blu-ray/movie collector.

Exactly. It amazes me how people will blow $200 in a Kino or Criterion sale, yet won't spend half that on a region-free player.

That's the response to anyone wishing for Region A titles. And it's a fair retort. But if I went Region free, I would doom myself to years and years of going for everything. Everything.
I don't think the girlfriend would lie that decision.

Also the immortal d-bag Rubinstein should grow a soul and get his friend Romero's films over here. It's the right thing to do.

Rubenstein is to DOTD what Lucas is to Star Wars. I wouldn't bet on a Region A release.

I’m going to wait a while to see if it ends up getting a US release before I import the UK 4K set. I just find it hard to believe Rubinstein would leave money on the table by not letting it be released here.

A telling sign is that there isn't any streaming or rental for either Dawn of the Dead and Martin. Two superb films just left in the dark, to collect dust.
He's missing out in leaving these to rot. They need to breathe, so maybe get them to Shudder and have a label give them the ritz of a release (state-side, of course).

A Scream or Arrow edition, fully loaded with all three cuts and special features, would sell like gangbusters. It'll happen eventually. Until then, I'm good with my AB Blu-ray (my preferred version of the film), and AB DVD Ultimate Edition (for everything else).

I would prefer Arrow. There's something about each Dead film of the trilogy being with a different boutique label.

The UK UHD looks SPECTACULAR, and was worth every penny to me. Plus, I doubt any U.S. release would have contained the three(!) soundtrack CDs or copy of the novelization or the thicc enclosed book.

The Second Sight release is honestly the best release in my entire collection.

Every aspect, from packaging to artwork to extras to transers, is as good as we're likely to ever get for this classic, and getting it for $95 was a steal. Just the three CDs alone probably add up to half the worth of the entire set, as a soundtrack junkie. If Scream Factory or Arrow ever release it in the U.S., they'd have to put out something really spectacular in terms of extras to get me to double dip.
