Amen. I also really love the official novelization and the giant hardcover booklet/dissertation!

Even though I don't care much for soundtracks, I knew I would be kicking myself if I let the LE pass. So i was smart and did not this time. It is a beautiful package. Still need to get to those books though.

I see no good reason for anyone who is 4K ready and a fan to not get at least the standard version. The films look amazing and who knows if they will ever come back to their home in the US. I guess if not being able to watch the extras would bug someone that much.. that could be a reason not to import. Other than that, y'all missing out.

I bought the Dawn 4K from second Sight at OrbitDVD. $44? Shipped the next day.

I was listening to an interview with Scream Factory earlier and one of the question was.
Are there films you tried to get but just couldn't?

Cliff said they spent months, probably longer than they shot the film for(his words) to put together a deal and they just couldn't make it work.
And in that time Second Sight have released an excellent set which alot of people will have imported so it probably wouldn't be worth them releasing it now anyway.

Me too because earlier in the interview he said Scream/Shout are quite a big company now and have a lot of $$$$ to make offers to license films compared to smaller labels.

Maybe it was the British charm that got SS the deal or maybe he wanted less money for overseas's who knows.

The artwork for both the novelization and the gigantic booklet from Second Sight are gorgeous. I could easily imagine a similar artwork for the movie, if Scream had aquired the rights.

I highly doubt that. It must have been millions they offered Rubenstein. But I wonder how such a small studio like Second Sight was able to afford that

Now that 88 Films has crossed the pond, this titles seems perfect for the debut of Second Sight USA. Maybe they could work their magic again. It doesn't look like anybody here wants to touch it now anyway.

Just added this odd curiosity called the "Complete Cut " to my Dawn of the Dead collection. It's from Austria. It runs 156 min. and presumably combines all the footage from all 3 official cuts. German and English audio. I'll probably never watch this as it's basically just a fan edit, very similar to the Extended Mall Hours Cut. But as a huge DOTD fan and collector of this movie, I somehow felt the need to own this version of the film lol.

I would love it if Second Sight expanded here. At this point there is so much bad blood with Rubenstein, that labels simply don't want to work with him.

I don't know if Rubenstein is just a stubborn a-hole, who is difficult to work with, or if he's just greedy af. But somehow Second Sight made a deal with him. No other studio/label was able to do that, and they have been trying for more than 10 years.

Yeah, I truly would love to hear what in the world happened behind closed doors that they were able to make a deal work. What were they able to do that no one else could.

I highly doubt it was all about money. I mean, Second Sight is a relatively small company. They couldn't afford millions to licence it, could they?

Perhaps a little from column A, a little from column B.

He may not be legally allowed to release it in North America. He might have partnered with somebody on the 3D version that stipulated that he can't license it without hitting a certain amount. It seems like I heard something like that a few years. Or I could be delusional and just making this all up.

Cliff from Shout summed up the situation pretty well in a recent podcast for the U.S. No label here is going to pay him what he wants especially now that the exceptional Second Sight release is floating around here.
