The standard sets are both Available on Amazon for like 60 bucks for a 4k ($32) and bluray set (29). That seems pretty cheap and average across all the different labels.

Where is the 4K 50 dollars? Zaavi shows it as 89 dollars. Yes, that's too much for a movie I don't even know if I will love. Even 50 dollars is high. Even if I thought Night of the Living Dead was very good. Waiting so long doesn't guarantee satisfaction.

You should consider paying the high prices. One of the best movies ever (my second favorite). At the very least you can grab the DVD for like $10 on ebay if you play your cards right.

It's waaaaaaaaay better than NOTLD. FWIW, the Second Sight UHD standard edition is $43.99+$5 shipping on Diabolik right now. Just a hair under $50.

That's how you tell someone's generation. Does the quote come from:

1) UHF?
2) Blazing Saddles?
3) Treasure of the Sirena Madre?

Yeah, wishing death on someone (even a potentially greedy, unreasonable person) over a movie that can be readily had by anyone with either a region free blu ray player, or a UHD player, is straight up bananas.

I'm curious how this is possible, when there are plenty of releases that will occur from October to December that haven't even been announced yet. Are you mentally setting aside money for rumored Q4 releases, or do you pick up Q4 releases once the new year hits?

Genuinely curious, since I've never heard of anyone (collector or otherwise) having their annual purchases planned out before August even starts.

For the LE maybe. The MSRP for the standard edition, which only loses out on the printed content and soundtrack CD's, is 55$ and it's normally available for ~40$.

It may be OOS right now at Zavvi.

I would say it's not readily available in the US for general audiences. Most people stream, and it's not available to stream anywhere in the US as far as I know. For physical, most people don't import or wouldn't even know how. It looks like the 4K Second Sight is available on Amazon through a second hand seller, so at least there is that, but who knows how long that will be up.

Either way, for hardcore fans, it's pretty easy to access, but for most people, it's not, which is a shame since this is one of the most important films period. You would think it would at least be streaming.

You can buy it on Amazon through the Amazon Global Store. Very easy to do.

I mentioned it's up on Amazon USA. No reason to do that as of now. However, if the listing wasn't up on Amazon USA, I'm sure most casual physical film buyers wouldn't do that. Hell, there are a ton of people who are hardcore film viewers here who don't want the hassle of importing something due to costs, etc. Also, still doesn't change the fact that a casual film viewer can't turn on their TV and stream the film which is where the vast majority of people watch film now. I would say that's the very definition of the film not being accessible to the vast majority of viewers.

I have been wanting to watch this movie for years. Years! And still I can't. I'm not paying these high prices for it.

So you can't want to watch it that much. And its better than Night so I think you're safe with a blind buy.

Now where's Day in 4K....

There's a difference between much and long... Saying that you have wanted something for years doesn't mean you will pay an arm and a leg for it.

Only 59 percent of you said it's better than Night of the Living Dead.

$20 with points for the Second Sight UHD set on Amazon thru Amazon Global store. $32.50 + $12.58 shipping (+ tax). Couldn't wait any longer.

I do have the long OOP Anchor Bay's 4 disc UE on DVD. Is that still a keeper in terms of extras ?

Y'all it's not a hassle nor difficult at all to order the regular 4k from Amazon UK. It's literally $50 shipped, the regular Blu being a few dollars less. If you love it that much and want it then buy it.

I've seen less beating around the bush over releases that cost just as much if not more.

It's readily available as a physical item from a global online store millions use everyday and ready for anyone to purchase, local isolated restrictions not withstanding. There's no special process to order it.

Mainstream viewers who buy little to no physical product don't really factor into the equation because they probably wouldn't be buying it anyway.

When one wants something bad enough they'll get it. It's literally right there for the taking for anybody.

You are incorrect. Most physical buyers are A: Not region free and B: Not 4K ready. That's just not the average physical media buyers, but a lot of the hardcore buyers on this forum.

Sure, you can become 4K ready or become region free, but that is in fact a hassle and make this release more inaccessible.

So yes, Dawn of the 1978 is not easily accessible currently in the US. Physical or streaming.

I absolutely did not make a "most physical buyers" statement. Please hold off on the strawmen!

It's open for sale to anyone who wants it. That's the point and that's not an insinuation otherwise.

Quote:

Getting a 4k player under $100 is not a hassle nor difficult, neither is going region free of which there are multiple ways to do so.

Quote:

It's available online for anyone to purchase who wants to get it. There are new 4k buyers and region free buyers every day. The state of whoever is unwilling to buy does not change or alter the fact a physical object is readily available for whomever wants it. The hoop you're jumping through is ridiculous.

The lack of agency you project and infantilization of other people over buying movies is incredibly inane and I recommend against it but whatever floats your boat mister!
