It looks great on the shelf! Money well spent for sure and glad I got in on it when I had the chance. The decision was also much easier given I didn't have the OOP Blu-ray.

There's a reasonably-priced region-free import.

I dropped about $160 USD for both the 1080p and 4K UHD limited editions together.

No regrets over that decision at all.

I bought a region-free player just for the Second Sight release. I consider it a double win.

4K has graced the US since November 2020. Just have to import, or order from a US site that deals in other regions. I pre-ordered the LE from Zavvi's US site late 20.
Even better, being a UK release, all text and booklets and shit are in English!

I just don't like to import. I rather wait for a US version. Someone will eventually do one.

Unlikely we'll see a US release anytime soon. Even if the blu-ray gods are with us, I highly doubt it'll be as good as the Second Sight release from the UK.

I have no faith in a U.S. release any time soon. Glad that I imported the standard 4K edition last year. Yeah, it's annoying that the bd with extras is region locked, but I have a bd drive in an old laptop so no issues watching the new extras, and I can easily access the older extras from that awesome multi-disc DVD set. Not giving up any editions of this movie. Still got the old U.S. bd too.

I'm like this when it comes to videogames but with movies I only keep one version per movie so I need to be able to play all the content on said version I keep.

Worst case scenario I just keep my Blu-ray. It looks good to me still.

Region-free Blu-ray players are also very affordable. eBay is your friend; I recommend using the site to order from 220 Electronics. I've had both of my players for about 3 1/2 years.

That collection of yours brought back some memories. Before the 2004 DVD set, I used to have *I think* every USA VHS release of Dawn. The first one like HBO Thorne EMI, then the anchor bay releases (one of which had a very psychedelic "disco ball" pattern to the cover art), and my favorite was the 2 tape "director's cut" (not really but that's what they called it at the time). By the time the 2004 DVD set came out, I knew there were only 3 "official" versions of the movie, and that set had them. So the tapes went into the garbage (Ugh). The only real differences I noticed was that the first VHS release had a small snippet missing, when Peter asks Roger if he can start the car inside the mall (after he's been bitten), and the "psychedelic" tape cover art version had a couple of minutes of the extended version inserted into the theatrical version (ran about 129 minutes instead of 125).

Or a region free player. Best bet would be to get both.

But it's 3D. The 3D is the prime reason there's no US release in print cuz Ruby spent too much on it, no one really wanted it, now he's trying to re-coup the losses of that by asking insane prices for US license.

You could call it an important (shit)piece of the film's history.

It's also why I jumped on the UK 4K set. No telling when or even if it ever get another US release. The studios that could afford his asking price won't pay it, so who else possible will?
