Thanks for trying, but Dick isn't going to loosen his grip on the US rights. So you did the right thing as now you can enjoy this awesome set without waiting and hoping. Even if a domestic release comes, it won't be as sweet as this set is.

That said, I cannot pass up the chance to see Dawn in a theater, especially since the showing I plan on going to is on my birthday. Super excited, and glad the nearest Regal theater is only about 40 minutes away.
I recently saw the original Jaws in 3D in theaters with an audience. Honestly, it was an amazing experience, one of the best theatrical experiences I had in my life. Jaws is awesome in 3D.

Now, on to Dawn of the Dead. I gave up hope waiting for an American release, so I ordered the Second Sight 4 disc set (3 4K's and 1 blu-ray). It is basically identical to the 4-disc DVD set that Anchor Bay released years ago, which I still own.

Those new scans are far from identical, and it has quite a few more extras than the DVD set (on the disc 4 BD which you need to be region free to enjoy though). I had to keep the DVD set just cuz it's too cool to sell off for cheap, but it will never go near the player again.

I have a copy of the 4K UHD ultimate set brand new and sealed if anyone is interested. Any takers? Does $140 sound good? Willing to negotiate.

Currently in the US, but can ship worldwide.

Retail price sounds good to me. I’d rather get the smaller box for $40 than pay someone $140 for that.

Just received the smaller box as I'm sure it does not have nearly as many discs as what's pictured. I've seen this movie when it was originally released in the theatres (twice) and I've had this movie on LD, DVD and Blu-ray and can 't wait to see this in UHD Blu-ray!

I don't know whey there's no U.S. release of this, but oh well, like some of you, I too got tired of waiting.

Retail sounds great, but the LE was limited and is now gone. $140 is a very good price now, and really not too much more than retail was with shipping and all that. Mine cost $106 total, and that was a pre-order.

There is no US release cuz the producer/owner wants too much money for anyone to deal with him. He's still trying to pay for that 3D conversion no one asked for. I'm sure if he dropped his price there would be a bidding war, but he has just set it too high for any studio to gamble that much.

The smaller box is 4 discs, the last 3 are soundtrack audio CD's. Not a huge soundtrack guy myself, but the books are very cool. Not quite $100 cool, but cool.

Thanks for the info! Three CDs? I didn't know there was that much music in the movie! Interesting to note, my brother and I used to make fun of that song that got played inside the mall with the whistle going UUUUP, then Dooown with the zombies walking around. I think the music starts when someone in the electrical room flips all the circuit breakers to turn on everything in the mall.

So if the owner wanted too much (I'm sure he or they) have the original camera negative. Do you know what source was used for this release?

There's two CDs' worth of music from the De Wolfe music library (which Romero also plundered for Night Of The Living Dead and Creepshow), and one for the original music by Goblin. Oftentimes only fragments of lengthy library cues were used in the film. As a major film music nut, these three CDs were a huge reason I splurged on the whole set.

The source for the theatrical cut in the UK Second Sight 4K UHD set is the original camera negative. See this post from early in that thread:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...6&postcount=90

Also, the “slipback” image on the release page shows the sources for the three cuts:

I was hoping that the recent 3D showings RR did back in October would show he finally had a change heart. Guess not. He's still a shallow man.

If a 3D release were announced there would probably be half a dozen new threads created.

Oh totally. I just thought when the movie played theatres we could finally get a US physical release announcement.

It's possible a deal was signed around that time period. If it was we probably won't hear anything for awhile as most licensing deals are not usually announced right away. If someone like Criterion nabbed it, it probably wouldn't be announced until the disc was announced

People have been saying this for several years now, he's been showing that 3D print in theaters ever since he completed work on it back in 2015. The theory has been that he's asking so much for the video rights cause he's trying desperately to recoup all the money he wasted on the 3D conversion.

I just don't get if dummies like him realize that the amount they'll get for blu-ray rights is only going to continue to go down over time, the best time for him to sell rights would have been back in like 2008. The second best time is right now cause it's only going to get worse.
