To be fair, unless you are made of money, you pretty much are limited to what you can watch because you never will be able to buy everything released.

Every movie that currently exists that I have a desire to purchase has been purchased or pre-ordered. So no, that's not the case. I am not "made of money" nor am I "not made of money".

Technically, you actually are "limiting [your]self on what movies [you] can watch" by only getting those that you "have a desire to purchase."

Yes if you have limited interest in what you want to own, it is possible, I suppose, to get everything you want (assuming that everything you want is available somewhere) and not have to make decisions on what to buy based on financial limitations.

I'm happy for you that you've been able to complete your collection to your satisfaction and never have to spend another dime on a Blu-ray/UHD. But that, clearly, isn't the case for everyone else.

That's not what that means at all. I still watch lots of movies I don't buy, and buy lots of movies I have never seen before. Being region free means I am not limited in my ability to purchase any film that exists on physical media.

You're moving goalposts.

The stuff people will say to "make a point" over nothing on the internet is truly beyond unbelievable.

This Region Free discussion is kind of annoying, gotta say.

In this case it's less about region free since 4K is in itself 99% region free. I can't imagine not picking this up and just hoping it'll eventually come to the US, in a worse presentation and most likely less cuts just because of principals.

I think it's more that you look at some folks who have THOUSANDS of discs, and say "I want this movie, but won't go region free". That's totally fine, but unless it's medical (poster previously mentioned) there is no really good excuse not to have one if you're buying lots of discs. You can get a region- free player for the cost of 2-3 discs in some instances, or even a disc drive in the PC.

Once again, not telling people how to spend their money, but sometimes those same people are in the same threads for OOP films posting about how much they want a certain film...

That's nice, so you can afford to buy everything that you want, including lots of blind buys. Others are not so lucky for various reasons. I think it is incredibly obnoxious that everytime someone says I have to have limits on what I can buy and opting to not be region free (or go UHD) is one of those limits I have set, people respond with some variation of "why buying a region free player is cheap" or "UHDs are region free." Neither of those responses are helpful in any way.

You are correct, I shouldn't have bothered to respond to any of this. It was stupid of me, I usually just let this discussion pass, because it has been talked to death and, as I said, it adds nothing to the forum.

I'm obnoxious for pointing out that any single person on this board can get the literal definition of a perfect release and they don't need to do anything other than clicking twice on Amazon?

Ok. Well, you folks can keep waiting for a 4K of Dawn of the Dead because you don't want to purchase a 4K of Dawn of the Dead that is already available and will be better in pretty much every aspect anyone could care about in a film release.

As I said, multiple times. People can spend their money however they want, but depriving yourself of something you'd want for no legitimate reason is just odd.

Well, the announcement was made. It's a Night of the Living Dead retrospective about some of the lesser known or unknown ghouls from the original film.

Quote:
 Coming Soon: UNEARTHING The UNDEAD
For over 55 years, as Night of the Living Dead has thrilled and terrified audiences worldwide, many of the cast and crew who played ghouls and posse members have remained anonymous... until now!
In the coming weeks, we will put names to the faces of more than 20 never-before identified cast members of the original Night of the Living Dead, thanks to the tireless research of John Vullo.
Stay tuned to meet the unsung heroes who helped bring George A. Romero's horror classic to undead life, revealed exclusively on official Night of the Living Dead social media pages.

Something like this came out in 2009, titled Autopsy of the Dead. I have a copy which was autographed by most of the these individuals.

I'm still wondering if that's it since that news has nothing to do with Criterion /Janus.

It's not the announcement.

1. The tease had the Criterion logo and this retrospective has no relation with Criterion whatsoever it seems.

2. Also, Jim Cirronella responded to a comment regarding that:

"This is not a "teaser" since it's been stated exactly what will be revealed in the coming weeks, and it has nothing to do with the upcoming news from The Criterion Collection."

I really have no idea what it could be. The FB channel is operated Image Ten, who I think only has connection to the first film, and not the others. All the hashtags are also NotLD related too, but since a 4K has already been released, I don't see what else it could be as far as physical releases go.

Dr. West got me running through this series with the intended timeline order, and I just got to the Second Sight theatrical cut disc the other day, everytime I watch this disc :chef's kiss: I can't imagine waiting around for Criterion of all labels, who I actively now avoid, because they do not author better discs than Arrow or Second Sight, point blank. Cursing at Rubenstein over not having a US set when you can import a doorbuster package for $50 is wild to me.
