I like the color of the AB better. I have both for all the extras.

Nope. Happinet did all three films (including all three cuts of Dawn). I own them all.

I can vouch for the Japanese Dawn being flawed, but having three interesting transfers with VERY cool color palettes

Ah Lieutenant Rhodes is one of the reasons why I love Day so much and always have! He's so over the top its hilarious!

And how will you kill them all Captain? They arent enough bullets for that. The time to kill them all would have been at the beginning!

Dr Frankenstein is so great. So many great characters in this film, even the stereotyped ones.

Back on topic, and my Umbrella edition of Dawn of the Dead arrived today. I love the simplicity of the cover. Sold my Anchor Bay disc and kept 2/3rds as profit! Don't care about losing the "film facts" exclusive to that edition, all that stuff is readily available elsewhere.

Got some extras on this I didn't have already and of course I have the Ultimate Edition boxset still for the extras (and just last week got Synapse's Document of the Dead Blu-ray).

The "vanilla" disc isn't currently listed on Rewind, but it's essentially disc 1 of the OOP edition without the bonus disc.

In my pre-family days when I had more time on my hands I made a remix of Nine Inch Nails' "Only" using Rhodes lines throughout. "Only- The Greek Salad Remix" I think

Ordered my Umbrella Dawn for $8. It could look like garbage and I wouldn't care when we're talking about $8. I'm still debating on whether or not to splurge and get the Japanese set.

I was surprised at how good it looks to be honest. Not perfect but slightly better than I remember the Anchor Bay disc. It's got that 50-minute Romero interview too that isn't on any other edition.

Just a tad annoyed the 2.0 track seems to be a downmix of the 5.1 rather than original mono. I assume this is as per the OOP Arrow version and I honestly don't remember what the Anchor Bay 2.0 track was like. Not too bothered though, far worse 5.1 remixes have been committed to Blu-ray as the only option.

Does the happinet release of day have any worthwhile extras on it?
I was not overly impressed with the overpriced dawn set, I would still like to see someone release the anchor bay set on blu, but the release of night is the best I've seen so far.

I am very drawn to the day cover by happinet.

Is there any audio changes on Dawn on the 5.1 mix?

I did mention that back in this thread, and others before me no doubt: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...&postcount=465

As you say, the 5.1 is surprisingly faithful so it's not a disaster by any means.

It doesn't have anything new in terms of extras. I checked the specs in MakeMKV and it's a dual layered disc (using 40.29gb). The case is black, it has a slipcover (Bub on the front, Rhodes on the back). It has a very cool booklet, however all of the text is Japanese. The best touch is the back of the booklet is "The Dead Walk" newspaper.

The audio is the same as the Umbrella, Arrow and Anchor Bay blu-ray's. Original theatrical audio on the mono mix, bizarre audio changes on the 5.1 mix.
