It's a shame the guy wants too much money to license it because as of right now he's not making any since it's out of print on all formats in the US. -_-
It's like he thinks physical media is just on the verge of coming back to the DVD days, or something. It's only going to decrease in value as time goes on, the guy's an idiot.

He, apparently, spent a $6 million on completely unnecessary converting Dawn in 3D. He is a crazy, ritch dude and he can afford playing a waiting game.

I'd like to hear how much money he is asking for it? 500k? More?

The guy that owns Hell Night is the same way. He's waiting for a remake to be made so he can "cash in". Keep dreaming, buddy....

What do you mean? You see print damage in the 4K frame? Looks like you didn't read the whole thing. The movie is not restored yet, only color corrected.

Anyway, it's totally normal to have dust & scratches, it's film!

Edit: Keep in mind that this is an Interpositive so you get twice the grain, twice the artifacts.
More information on movie restoration on an other blog of mine here.

It's going to be pretty funny when the European cut is the only one with a modern transfer :P

Cool. 4K restoration, colour corrected in DCI P3. This needs a UHD-BD release.

It does indeed. Argento ruined it. What a senseless waste of restorative resources.

Blame the idiot that has the rights to the regular version.

I don't hate the European version or anything, but I can't say I have ever watched it for anything other than the commentary! Maybe I'll warm up to it.

I do have the Australian blu-ray on order, finally, now that I know we may never see the regular version again thanks to 3D conversion man.

I LOVE the Euro cut. The theatrical will always be my favourite but Argento's version is livelier, it plays like an action movie and there's yet more of that wonderful Goblin music in there. I need this restored version in my life as my French BD of the Euro cut has crapped out.

Looks great, Danny!

This is good news, I'm excited. (I had heard for years the euro version was such a travesty, so I believed it must be true, like the rest of the Fangoria-kid Hive Mind. But when I finally saw it it really didn't seem like such a crime to me.)

Extended cut is much too long for my tastes. One could say that the Argento version is sheared to the bone, while the theatrical cut is juuuuuust right.

I like the Euro cut. I have not seen it in a while, but is some of the cheesy humour removed? I think that was why I liked it.

Almost agree! The theatrical cut is much more polished as well, but I wish some of the extended violence had stayed in.

I've been close to picking up the French disc of the Euro cut many times -- glad I waited!
