Seriously though, the mall is huge, and I could easily see a ton of opportunities for some excellent depth in that expansive mall. 3D doesn't have to be things poking out of the screen. If the conversion is done well, it could provide excellent depth. The conversions I've been seeing over the past year or two have been stellar - better than some natively-shot 3D films. Also, the 3D release could make it possible to get a release in theatres, which would give many fans an opportunity to see it in the theatre, perhaps for the very first time for many people. If that's the case they should do Casablanca in 3D as well. The bar scenes would look awesome. |

This is basically like JP 3D for me. I didn't really give a crap about it being in 3D, I was just happy to have another chance to see it in theaters. With Dawn, I've never seen it in theaters at all, so if I can because of a 3D release, then I'm all for it. And for the record, I thought the 3D in JP was excellent, and took nothing away from the presentation, and even improved it in some areas.

To be fair, Jurassic Park was from a major studio. This, I believe, is being done by one of the producers so it's possible that this situation is different.

A lot of you lot like to preach that you are purists and such banging on about the inclusion of mono sound and all that - well how do you think Romero would feel about a '3D' conversion of his film?? Do you lot think that the film should be seen the way it wasn't intended to be seen? If watch this film on 3D you may as well get them to chance the aspect ratio too. |

The US blu ray is of verry good quality,but....it's only the shorter 127 min version!
I would love to see the longer version at 141 min, cause a LOT of the gore was cut out along with some interesting pieces here and there. Ultimatly my biggest wish would be the 156 min "extended mall edition",NOTHING beats that version! I mean, some movies if extended seem to drag on...NOT with DOTD,it fits in perfectly and is composed of x3 versions. This is only on dvd available but in really good quality,a blu of this....a wet dream... |

One that comes to mind is when Peter gets angry at Flyboy for almost shooting him at the airfield, he aims his gun and in the extended version Fran says (rather awkwardly) "Peter ohmygodwhatareyoudoing" and the theatrical cut shortens it to just "Peter!" and gets rid of the shitty reading. Also has some better transitions. Its too bad there couldn't be a cut that fixes those problematic spots and keeps the gore. |

I understand there really is no "best version" for all official cuts in HD. I did have my mind set on the Arrow release, as that one at least let's me have all the official cuts.
Seeing as the Arrow version is OOP, the US standard seem like a good option for the US theatrical cut. What would be my best options for the extended and argento cuts? I've seen some versions that I found very little details about; Austrian Argento cut on BD for example. Then maybe I have to get the extended in SD? One important thing is english subs. I'm not a native english speaker, so subs help a long way to understand dialogue. |

Very pleased with the Arrow set, I don't think I would want the Argento cut in HD as it's the version I watch the least. The extended version I would like to see get a proper HD release.
As for the 3D, yes, I was just telling myself the other day what the world needs is a 3D version of Dawn of the Dead. Maybe add some dinosaurs in the truck moving sequence. |
