Please help me out but I thought only the Euro cut was being restored? Are the theatrical and extended cuts on this from an older source? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

BUT I'll take whatever they're giving so it wouldn't be a deal breaker or anything.
The UHD Blu-ray will be made using a Rec. 709 master.

Would be wonderful if they were able to use the remastered picture and splice it into the other cuts where applicable, but I'm not holding out much hope.

Yeah, like what Shout did with AoD. It'd be a nice touch but I'm not expecting anything special. If they were to use the newer transfers seen on other recent editions rather than the crusty old one with the baked in noise reduction artefacts then that'd be a bonus in itself.

And thanks for the info Mr D. Rec 709 it is.

Any chance the Italian language extras will have English subs?

I'll probably get the 4 disc version. An un-matted version of the Argento Cut isn't really that essential is it? Plus I have no use for the 4K disc seeing as I haven't got a 4K TV and player.

Before there's too much speculations as to what the Open Matte version is, let me share the slate I made that should appear at the beginning of this version.

[Show spoiler]

But why include it at all Danny, especially if the frame around the 1.85 extraction is unrestored anyway? Seems like a very odd thing to do.

I know, that's odd. Well, you know, what's important is that the 4K restoration kicks ass and it is. I asked to have, at least, the whole frame unrestored but for some technical reasons they couldn't do it. Here's what I was told "Maybe but I cannot come back to color corrected unrestored now as it is quite 8tb data."

They call it a bonus disc, it's quite not essential.

Oh indeed, it's just a bit of fun to have I guess. I suppose they did what they did to the underlying scan and copied that off to a master, but going back to the raw scan minus any tinkering would require queuing it all up again and running off another master and they just didn't have the time/money to be able to go back to the well.

That's quite exactly what happened.

Anyway, basically the darker area will have film artifacts.

Edit: No worries, it won't be darker on the Blu-ray.

That's gonna be so weird though, having a centre portion of the image look fresh and squeaky clean while the artefacts rain down outside of it.
