It's a classic set that has yet to be surpassed, and given the poor state of the extant HD master (DNR a-hoy-hoy!) I've given up on the UK/US Blu-rays. I've got the French BD of the Argento cut, but that ain't much better.

Gotta love the whiners that can't let others have any fun. You hate 3D so then you're not happy until it's dead so nobody else can enjoy it. Nice.

3D has been in cinema since the early days of cinema. I could call surround sound a fad too but it's not. Surround sound isn't necessary to enjoy a film but it makes it more fun.

I agree. I never understood the logic(or lack thereof): I don't like, thusly nobody else should like.

I'm not a huge fan of 3D, I do like it, but I'd rather have it as a purchasing option, than not.
Hey I don't care if studios start releasing Smell-O-Vision, as long as people buy it and it helps keep the format going, I'm all for it.

Amen. I just watched Gravity in 3D last night. It was incredible. One of the best looking 3D films I've ever seen. Creature of the Black Lagoon, House of Wax and Dial M for Murder are all amazing 3D blu-ray's.

Nobody said you can't enjoy 3D movies, it's just that not every movie needs to be converted to 3D.

Dawn Of The Dead needs a remastering a lot more than a 3D conversion.

Yep! Classic 3D was what swayed me to want 3D.

However... I'm not a fan of conversions of old movies. If it was made 2D I want to see it 2D. Not to say I wouldn't give Dawn 3D a go, it's one of my favourite movies so any excuse to watch it again.

It needs a new scan though desperately as a priority.

I wish Shout Factory would do a Blu-ray collection for Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, and Land of the Dead.

I'm not personally offended by 3D, but I'm not interested in it either.

I don't tend to go to the movies anymore, but when I look at local listings and see that theatres tend to double book many major releases (for 3D and 2D screenings) at the expense of other, smaller movies...that offends me.

I mean, if I want to see Linklater's Boyhood, I'm looking at a three-hour round trip; no trouble finding Transformers, Planet of the Apes, 22 Jump Street -- triple, quadruple redundancies in a twenty mile radius, two or three screens per multiplex.

I know, it's all about money, but man. At first I thought I was misreading -- yet another charmless, joyless, leaden Transformers movie? Who's going to see these things?

Dawn is my favorite "modern" horror film, and I am looking forward seeing a good BD copy. Are the current versions available too similar to the Anchor Bay DVD? I'm new to Blu, and am still figuring it all out.

As far as 3-D goes, I can't see most artificial 3-D, so don't have a TV or player that supports that feature. Anyone that can, have fun!

Every 3D disc should be backwards compatible with 2D, the player just ignores the MVC video extension, not unlike the way DTS-HD MA has a DTS core for older decoders.

I'm not sure if a 2D version of the 3D conversion would be identical to the original 2D though after processing because things may get shifted around slightly in frame to "pop out". Does anyone know?

Well, clearly someone is. But since these films seem to be universally reviled, I don't think the question is particularly dunderheaded. I mean, even the most unimaginative, boilerplate reactionary troll on IMDb seems capable of a "Go watch Transformers" response. If Michael Bay can't get that demographic, what chance do his films have?

Every disc should be compatible with 2D because they're encoded that way, but several are not because they don't provide a 'play 2D' option in the menu. Paramount's Top Gun is a prime example.
