I agree on the trilogy tho. I like Land a lot but it isn't required.
Luckily there's more consumers out there than just what YOU want.

So glad I got the Ultimate Edition for $30 back in 2012. Then I found the Blu-ray for under $10 at FYE before it went OOP.

That's my point, I'm just saying I think there are a lot more consumers for a 3 pack (since none of those movies have a must-own R1 release) than for the 6 pack

It would take something amazing to replace the Dawn DVD set as is, but with costs, rights and the current market I was just doubting the 6 movie's issues could be reconciled into one package and be cost effective, but that's not to say it would be impossible for a giant release. As long as stand alones are also available

I don't think anyone can say anything for certain.

Whatever Rubenstein's thoughts and wants, for all we know he might get an offer tomorrow and say "f*** it, this is going nowhere and I'm losing money the longer it goes on".

Very much so! It would have been licensed more times and if working with someone like Arrow he may have lovely new 4K masters to flog.

Arrow IMO would be the ideal release partner for this film as they have sales presence in two markets and lots of experience in restoration and putting together definitive packages.

He's sat on the 3D thing too long, he needs to cut his losses and get it released since consumer 3D is dying (for now, anyway). It's stupid really, he's asked for so much to make it financially unviable for any licencee and now waited so long it's actual value as an asset has declined.

I believe Martin is also caught up in the same quagmire. I have Arrow's UK DVD Immortal Edition release and would have loved an HD upgrade but they were forced to let it go OOP along with Dawn.

Anyone know if the US Anchor Bay BD is available for a decent price somewhere?

eBay isn't really brimming with listings and I feel that I don't really want to pay too much for a old transfer.

50$-ish seem a bit steep to me. :-/

$50 is not bad considering it's been OOP for a couple years.

I guess, but for example Arrows release seem cheaper, even thou it's OOP. Oh well. Guess I'll have to settle for the IT 4K release then.

I prefer the US cut and despite its PQ shortcomings I can live with it until a proper release is done for the US. 2018 is the anniversary after all.

What shortcomings are people on about regarding the Anchor Bay release of Dawn of the Dead? I think it looks amazing, tbh. I'm genuinely interested to know.

It has some ghosting issues as well as some EE: http://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?d1=946...0&a=1&go=0&l=1

The UK disc has slightly better compression, but I prefer the correct AR on the AB disc.

I have both releases from AB and Arrow. When I do watch Dawn, I tend to go for the AB disc over the Arrow. Despite its technical flaws, I still think the AB disc looks savage.

Recent Italian release, also has a UHD combo release:

Mind you, there appears to have been some issue or issues with the BD as replacement discs have been shipped out:

I have the six disc 4K version. The Argento cut representing the UHD disc, which is dreadful. They are currently sending out a replacement disc for the Argento blu-ray which has technical issues. This cut was restored by the company themselves. The rest of the discs are identical to the Japanese Happinet set, flaws and all. I also own the Umbrella, Arrow and Anchor Bay blu-ray's as well as many of the DVD's and all of the laserdiscs. In my opinion, the Ultimate Edition Anchor Bay DVD set is the best available option.

I do have that, along with the Anchor Bay Blu.

I guess we continue to wait...

Hey, if you're in NYC, "Dawn of the Dead" is this week's midnight movie at the Landmark Sunshine theater...

introduced by Producer Richard P. Rubinstein.

Seems like a rare chance to give him shit in public for delaying Blu-ray releases of this film (and "Martin").
