And all these pot shots being taken at him because he wont release this film the way you want it wont change a thing. You say he's 70 and wont live much longer? How old are all of you? I'm willing to be at least 40 years old. Think about what is important in your life. Family should be at the top. Then your health. Then money. Then a job. Not a 40 year old film that you already own 10 times over.
Give us a break with the sanctimoniousness. I don't think anyone is putting Dawn of the Dead over the rest of their life. This is a forum for blu-rays, which are inherently worthless compared to what you said. This added NOTHING to the topic and I don't get why you suddenly thought it worth throwing in!

I'm going to politely disagree with you here and say, movies should be the number 1 priority in your life. Your family should not. Movies like Dawn of the Dead have brought me so much joy, and I will admit, a little disappointment (here's looking at you From Justin to Kelly). Whereas my family has stolen my car and wrecked it, spanked me without my permission (although I did get a discount), left me waiting at the airport for over an hour, eaten all the peanut butter, overdrawn my bank account, threw away my now priceless Garbage Pail Kids collection, and gave me pink eye.

I do get where you are coming from though, I mean, you are a stranger on the internet, so you have every right (and honestly moral obligation) to tell us all what should be important. And here's where you went above and beyond, in what order. I am dying to know where "then cleaning out the fridge" ranks, cause I am hoping it's pretty low.

If you really think about it, we are all descendants from the same source, whether you call them uncle Adam or aunt Archaean. So to quote Sister Sledge, we are family. So what time should I come over for dinner?

Damn. It’s crazy to think this was the first blu-ray I ever bought. About ten years ago I was working at Best Buy and knew I was getting a PS3 for Christmas so I figured I would buy one movie on blu-ray since it was the brand new format. The blu-ray section at Best Buy at the time was maybe four feet wide consisting of MAYBE 60 different titles. I decided to go with the original Dawn of the Dead.

It was one of my first Blu's too. Then I got the Arrow and sold the US release for a nice profit. But I'd gladly unload that one if it were to get a proper reissue.

glad you are willing to be 40, i'm willing to but doubt life will take me up on that so i'll have to settle for being older.

dude this is a movie based board where even the slightest change or tiniest correction made to a blu-ray release will result in many pages of people b!tching about it. it's what keeps the board alive. we all need distractions from real life (and that includes our family) so here we are complaining about a lack of a new DOTD release. not a big deal and rest assured someone in your family is complaining about you as well.

Of course blus aren't the most important thing in life, BUT you are on a blu-ray forum

Since I just got the Italian 4K UHD set last night, I decided to do a little experiment with the Open Matte version of Dario Argento's cut just for fun.

My family is all passed away except my sister and she lives in another state with a full time job and I don't want any children myself so I am good there. I am 35 years old. I have absolutely great health (At least since my last check up in October) I have a steady income with very few bills, no credit cards or credit lines, I own my vehicle, rent my house which is paid up to date. I have a steady job which I have been at for 20 years now with great biweekly pay and overtime... Instead of telling us what needs to be important in our lives, you should have each one of us send you a bio on our lives so you can then tell us a different way to prioritizes everything. That way I know what to do since I was able to check off everything on your list. Would you like to see my W2 forms when I get them next month?

This post made my day.

I keep my Blu-ray collection in the big walk-in closet in the emtpy guest bedroom of my two-bedroom townhouse.

I've got no idea what I'm going to do with those Blu-rays if a woman ever moves in with me. There's enough space elsewhere in the townhouse, but that's the most non-obtrusive storage area for them now.

Of course, most women probably would not want to move in with me in the first place after seeing what movies are in my Blu-ray collection.
So... Problem solved.

Speak for yourself. Long after both your family, and mine, are dead and gone and long forgotten, the legendary original Dawn of the Dead will live on.

Nice! Doesn't even ruin the composition. Well done.

The beautiful thing about a collection your size is that any woman that moves in is unlikely to take the time to look at every title so the really dirty ones can be hidden in plain site with the only somewhat offense titles.

Around 5 months ago I separated my collection into two areas of my home. All my family, action, animation, sci-fi, drama, thrillers, etc are on the main level in 3 Sauder Multimedia shelves in the living room. In the basement are 3 more sauder shelves, 1 full of tv releases and the other two full of my horror and exploitation releases. Nothing is really hidden, but unless you have a decent amount of familiarity with the material you wouldn't really know your SS Experiment Camp, from your The Baby from your Babyface from your A Serbian Film from your Slaughter High, Hellraiser, Metamorphosis, etc.

At one time I worried about what might be discovered in my collection... now I know that I have so much horror that any non-genre loving fan will be bothered to ever really look at the collection due to its sheer size.

I've got a funny story. My live in girlfriend mixes her BDs with mine in a decent sized shelf and it's all alphabetized. Sometimes, people borrow our non-steelbook, non-collector's edition discs and it can end up in highly contrasting movies being next to each other. One day, we had my uncut Swedish BD of A Serbian Film next to her copy of The Sound of Music lol. A guest asked us if A Serbian Film was as whimsical as the latter! I said...uh, well, there's only one way to find out! I haven't heard from them since...

I should specify that I keep about 90% of my collection in the upstairs walk-in closet of my empty guest bedroom.

There's wooden chest in my downstairs living room behind my sofa where I keep the “crowd pleaser” stuff, like the Star Wars Movies, the James Bond 007 movies, the Marvel superhero movies, the Mad Max movies, the Rocky movies, and such.

In my upstairs collection, however, I have everything in these plastic Target bins that are labeled by genre (“Horror”, “Film Noir”, etc.), so somebody who is looking for the sleazy stuff will probably not have to look too hard.

This reminds me of a conversation that I had with a friend who served in the Marines years ago. He told me that, during the four times that somebody on the base died, he would give that deceased soldier's apartment keys to his sister, who was living with him at the time, so that she could go through the soldier's house and get rid of anything that might bring dishonor to the soldier if the soldier's family and friends were to go through the house later on. He instructed his sister never to tell him what she found, but he did see her leave a couple of the homes with big trash bags that were full.

The above conversation was inspired by a discussion that I had heard on a morning radio show where the hosts were asking people to call in and reveal if they had "porn buddies" who, in the event of their deaths, would go into their home and remove all of the incriminating porn stuff. One guy called in and said that he had removed two closets full of porn magazines and videos immediately after a housemate of his had died.

Thankfully, if I were to die suddenly, then all people would find in my townhouse would be a few sleazy drive-in flicks from Vinegar Syndrome Blu-rays, Code Red Blu-rays, and the like. I'm pretty sure that those close to me would laugh this stuff off, though. It wouldn't be like, “OMG! I can't believe that The Great Owl was into that stuff!”
