Thanks for the info... was ready to order this but sounds like the image quality isn't going to be anything worth while. I'll pass

although If you don't own the old Anchor Bay DVD set and want something to have until something better comes along, I get it.

What was wrong with it? I don't have Dawn of the Dead on Blu-ray so this release seems good. Which release should I buy if I just want the movie on Blu ray? I don't have 4K BD player.

I'll admit part of me wants this 4 Disc BLU set. UGH

Its like I know it won't be optimal. Anyone else have any way to rationalize for or against buying this set?

The Italian releases (with or without the UHD) will give you all 3 cuts on Bluray. So its worth getting for that alone.
Might be wrong but it doesn't look like the German set will be any better.
And either way you'll need to retain your AB dvd box for the documentaries and commentaries.

Of course I forgot about the Italian set that also contain the 4K disc.

although on caps a holic there isn't any difference between the 4K and the BLU of the Euro cut.

I'd guess the transfers on the blus would be identical to the Italian set

I’ll stick with my Arrow blu-ray and Anchor Bay ultimate edition dvd. No way I’m paying $91 for this set. Not happening.

After reading up on it more, I'll be sitting this one out. Seems like a cash grab before a better drop. Just don't know how long I'll be waiting. :\

The Italian set is available for a fair price and unlike the Arrow release you'll have all 3 cuts on Bluray not 2 on dvd

Can anyone confirm what master this new German set uses for the Theatrical cut? Is it the same master as the Anchor Bay? or is it derived from the Extended cut master?

Nearly every DVD release of the US theatrical cut IS derived from the Extended Cut master.
