They supposedly do have some leftovers from the Fox deal, including Preminger's Fallen Angel (1945). They also should still have some Sony & MGM leftovers, such as You Were Never Lovelier (1942) & China Doll (1958). I'm curious to see which of the leftovers will be released, and which will left unreleased.

Also, I'm curious out of all the Fox deals made by Criterion, Twilight Times, Kino and others, why has no one in the US picked up Nightmare Alley (1947)?

I thought You Were Never Lovelier had rights problems concerning the music?

I'm not sure. Last I heard was that TT had it and was planning a release before they defunct. But maybe it was wrong information, I don't know.

With Guillermo del Toro's remake coming soon, I imagine the chances for the original to get a blu-ray release will be better than usual.

Excellent news! Even if the prices are in the Imprint range, I don't care. I hope this means that Gorilla At Large (Anne Bancroft, Lee Marvin and Lee J. Cobb) is back on the table since that one was supposedly being worked on before the hiatus...

Shout's releases from Universal are coming at a glacial pace and include stuff like Twins and Doctor Detroit as collector's editions. So realistically, what studios are currently in play for possible TT releases?

Sony/Columbia?
Fox/Disney? (not likely at present)
MGM? (used to have a deal, but I think they parted ways)

I assume that Warner and Paramount are not on the table.

I hate to disparage any company dedicated to physical media these days, but I have to agree. There have been many TT films I've been interested in and may have purchased, but $30 USD translates to almost $40 Canadian, plus with international shipping, I was always looking at about $50 for a movie I hadn't seen. It's hard to justify pulling that trigger, as much as I might want to. Either lowering the price or making the movies more accessible by selling them through other retailers would be much appreciated (though really, I'm just happy that the line's been resurrected).

Great news! I'm not certain if this is still in play (since it was postponed by them), but I think they may still have the rights to The Iron Horse (1924) as well (Park Circus also shows a DCP for it).

As far as 1920s-1950s Fox films, here's what Park Circus shows as having DCPs that haven't been released by Twlight Time or other labels before, and not including films known to be with other labels (list spoiler tagged for length):

They also apparently did a deal with Universal and licensed some films from them before hand as well, so there may be some from there as well. I have no idea what they may do going forward besides what's leftover, although I'd have to agree it's likely any Fox films they release now would have likely needed to have been licensed before the Disney buyout.

Nice find. There are lots more DCPs from the 20s-30s not listed there from Fox, as most of those are from MoMA’s restorations in the past couple years. They also seem very unlikely to be in TT’s Film as they probably post-date TT’s deal with Fox.

However, I could totally see them having A Hatful of Rain and The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit as TT has shown a great liking to both Fred Zinnemann and Gregory Peck, respectively. I would totally buy them.

Arrow, Criterion and several overseas labels also license from Universal, in fact I can’t think of a studio that is more receptive to working with boutiques than Universal who also allow them to put out releases in competition with their own. I understand if there’s certain titles you want but there are other studios with far fewer avenues for their titles to be available than Universal.

Their titles haven’t been $30 for a long time now, what’s left of their back catalogue is currently going for $20 or less. Seeing as Screen Archives now owns the label I doubt that too many other places will carry them though.

Sony and Universal are most likely, Paramount maybe. Probably not MGM as they weren’t happy with the slow pace of the output to begin with but I wouldn’t count them out. If there are still some Fox titles they already signed up to release then maybe those, but nothing else post-takeover.

I can also see them maybe doing Down Argentine Way, since they have done other Betty Grable films as well. I'd definitely also be interested in A Hatful of Rain and The Man In The Gray Flannel Suit as well. As far as what they likely don't have, my guess is that No Way Out, and maybe one or both of the two Howard Hawks films (I Was A Male War Bride and Monkey Business) may be with Criterion, but that's just a guess on my part.

On a side note, though, I'd be interested to see if any of the Universal films listed on Park Circus end up with Twilight Time as well, especially many of the ones that haven't been released anywhere.

Yes, Nick was waiting for Fox to remaster it so I'm not sure that this title is a viable one anymore now that Disney bought Fox.
