I like Alamo Bay. I’m a huge Springsteen fan, that is the only reason I picked up. It’s a 80’s movie with a gritty dirty late 70’s look.

Just placed my 2nd order of the current sale:

I've had my eye on Sayonara and Anne of the Thousand Days for a long time now. The $5 shipping discount at SAE was enough to push me over the edge. I also added Cinderella Liberty.

The Vanishing is now Sold Out .
Remains of the day has 30 copies remain

Also SAE is getting low on Devil in a blue dress , Stormy weather , Flaming Star ,
Peyton Place & Fat City . I suspect most will sell out before this sale ends IMO.

Finally I hope Twilight time will release the left hand of god on blu ray and the gods must be crazy on blu ray as well .

Screw it, the 5:00 off shipping deal (plus choosing the cheaper media mail option) made me splurge. All informed blind-buys...

-COWBOY (1958) (SPECIAL PROMOTION)
9.95

-SHORT NIGHT OF GLASS DOLLS (LA CORTA NOTTE DELLA BAMBOLE DI VETRO / 1971) (SPECIAL PROMOTION)
9.95

-BLACK WIDOW (1987) (SPECIAL PROMOTION)
9.95

-THE DETECTIVE (1968) (SPECIAL PROMOTION)
9.95

-THE BRIDGE AT REMAGEN (1969) (SPECIAL PROMOTION)
14.95

SUBTOTAL:
$54.75
SHIPPING & HANDLING:
$8.80
DISCOUNT:
-$5.00
TOTAL DUE:
$58.55

Some cool composers in the isolated score tracks makes me confident these will be worth owning for those alone.

My copies of The Tall Men and Whirlpool arrived today - the first time I've received new TT titles without knowing what's next on their release slate. Not had a chance to look at Whirlpool yet, but The Tall Men is a good looking disc despite being taken from an older master - which also means that there's no obvious revisionism with the vivid color scheme but there is the odd case of the CinemaScope mumps. The default soundtrack is the 5.1 track but I preferred the 4.0, which has that old fifties four track stereo expansiveness.

Love the ending where Robert Ryan gets to deliver the definitive description of his co-star Clark Gable - "There goes the only man I ever respected. He's what every boy thinks he's going to be when he grows up and wishes he had been when he's an old man."

That's great! I prefer the older, non-blue leaning CinemaScope transfers. There is a French blu ray of THE LEFT HAND OF GOD that looks pretty good, so an HD master exists.

The Vanishing (1993) is such an underrated thriller. Sure it might not be as good as the original (which I still haven't seen) but it's FAR from one of the worst films ever made as it always seems to be regarded as IMHO. The performances are great and it's pretty disturbing. The final scene is my only real issue with the film and I am aware of how the original ends.

I know TT has said that they are, largely, scheduling the planned schedule before Nick's passing, but it is concerning.

Really hope they can possibly strike a new deal (a larger Universal deal?) that can help them find titles to release if Fox is now out of the picture.

At least they're still selling and shipping existing titles at a good clip. Hopefully this sale is going well for them and the revenue stream is enough to encourage them to reach for new deals.

I don't think it's a cashflow issue, probably more an accumulation of studios not providing promised remasters on time (Fox in particular) and the pressing plant capacity problems throwing everybody's schedules off as well as the personal issues in what is, after all a very small company where everyone also has outside work commitments. What Andrew Duggan's doctor in Merrill' Marauders calls AOE - accumulation of everything.

Maybe they're going to take some time off to get some titles in place for 2020.

Yeah The Mechanic is the one I'm still kicking myself over.

I've been hopeful for a re-release for what feels like an eternity, but with Fox acquisitions now in jeopardy due to Disney, I'm starting to fear we won't see it again.

Lucky for you The Mechanic is an MGM title. Fox is just the distributor. There's still hope!

I stopped buying that a while ago...them liking a post YEARS ago and saying virtually nothing about it since is insufficient reason for me to believe they have it.

I have more faith in Kino or Arrow than I do Scorpion at this point.
