So have they confirmed the April pre-orders go up tomorrow while they are running this sale at the same time?

I have been eyeing this for a while, I was going to get it if I ever saw any low quantity warning on it, but a sale is even better! I saw it on TV years and years ago and it's really stuck with me. Gene Hackman in particular is great, in the role that would simply be "the jerk" in a lesser flick.

I am going to have to get Man Hunt, When the Wind Blows, and Equus too. I was hoping Breaking Away would be on sale, but no dice. Man Hunt looks like a great classic action flick and just the kind of classic flick to look amazing in HD. When the Wind Blows is something I've always wanted to see, and I LOVE the animated "The Snowman" by Raymond Briggs, which coincidentally is also heartbreaking!! Equus I just want to see cause it sounds really weird and also has Jenny Agutter in her prime. :P

Crimes and Misdemeanors is my favorite Woody Allen movie by far, but I just can't get hyped enough to buy the darn thing when it has no special features to speak of and isn't exactly a movie that's primarily about the cinematography, even by his standards. Argh. If it's still around by the last day of the sale I might have to bite.

They both are announced for the same time, I don't think there needs to be a separate confirmation of it? I'm sure the site will be fine, there's no massively in demand title going up tomorrow like Fright Night.

Just remember not to preorder anything in the same order or they'll probably hold the whole thing until next month! I'm still waiting on my preorder of Journey to the Center of the Earth cause I preordered something else at the same time which still hasn't been released.

Well, Come Back to the Five and Dime Jimmy Dean definitely would not be part of the sale given that it's not a Twilight Time title (it's from Olive).

Of the titles going up for pre-order this Wednesday, the only one I'd warrant has even a prayer of selling quickly is Zardoz. The only hard choice is whether you want the pre-order titles desperately enough to pass on getting other wanted titles at a rare-as-hen's-teeth sale price.

What I'm doing is splitting the cost. I'll be pre-ordering Zardoz, along with a handful of sale titles. Since SAE won't split that order, I delay the cost of those by two weeks. In the meantime, I'm placing a second order with other sale titles which (theoretically) will be charged for and ship in the near term.

this is quite a good sale but I have all the titles on sale that I want. So might wait for the next promo.

Re Heaven and Earth, the PQ is not a disaster if your viewing screen is 60" or less. It's perfectly watchable, there are issues and they are noticeable but they are not distracting. Cant say if the same holds if your screen is bigger than that.

Or you could save a lot in shipping costs if you bundle them in one order and don't mind waiting.

what happens if one sells out between your order and when the preorder ships? I would normally assume the company would set it aside for you, but I would want to be sure!

oh, hadn't thought of that.
But on the other hand, I don't want to pay for shipping twice, since it's most expensive for my country.

I definitely want Remains Of The Day I like to watch it with Howards End. I dont know why I dig these movies so much bc they are SO not my kind of movie.

Anyway was on the fence about Adele H & Stormy Weather and now bc of the stupid sale lol I want Man Hunt and Experienent in Terror also. I definitely dont have enough for all four even with the sale.

Hopefully nothing sells out and everyone gets the titles they want.

Ahhhh first world problems are a drag 😋😋😋

Absolutely: it doesn't sell any of the five main characters short, and Hackman's smart enough not to oversell his last scene which makes it all the more powerful.

My solution is to place an order for over $100 and then pay via PayPal Credit to take advantage of their six months free financing offer. If you're mindful about managing your debt carefully and make your monthly minimum payments on time, then that's a worthwhile option.

Wow, very surprised by this announcement: it includes every title released last year (except for Yentl and Judgment at Nuremberg), and it includes some from the "low quantity alert" list, and there are even a few for $14.99. Wasn't last year something like one title for each month they've been in business? Definitely wasn't expecting so many titles to be on sale this time around.

Now please excuse me... I have to go sell a kidney......

Yeah, it was a surprise. It's 96 titles in all, so this time it's two titles for each month they've been in business. Which seems reasonable, since this is their second sale. Hmmmmm...does this mean next year's will be three for each month, or 180 titles?

There are a few for $14.95 because, like last year, each title is $10 off, and since some of the British films were released at $24.95...

I was also quite surprised that they included most of their low-quantity titles (leaving out The Driver, Hard Times, and Leave Her to Heaven). On the other hand, all of the low-quantity titles in the sale are in the $24.95 group, whether they were original $34.95 or $29.95, so some of those are only $5 off.

I asked this in the Richard III thread, but I'll ask it again here since this thread gets more traffic:

Has anyone heard word about the age/condition of the transfer that's being used?
