The FR disc seems too bright to me, but I could be wrong.

I was wondering if anyone had any info on the DE release of The Killer Inside Me from Universum Films. The US release is from MPI on a BD25, the DE release is on a BD50. Both appear to have the same bonus features and similar audio.

I think we can actively add Studio Canal's 4K release of The Third Man to the list. Better PQ/grain structure, and region free.

After looking at the caps I agree. It has been added.

While the German version is Region B locked, the UK and French versions (of the exact same disc) are Region Free. Might want to make note of that.

That's the old UK release, the new version is the same as the remastered German disc.

Does anybody know of a website that actually shows the disc specs for Japanese releases? Every Japanese website I've been on doesn't show them!

The only site I have ever seen for specs on JP discs is on caps-a-holic, but they just don't get JP discs very often.

Anyone know if there are different versions/encodes of "Ex Machina" out there? The U.S. one is fine, and it has DTS:X- but at times the bit rate goes quite low and has plenty of issues with its picture quality. During all of the blackout scenes when the room goes red, bitrates drop down to 10mbps and below which causes a lot of blocking and compression artifacts. Just curious of a superior picture out there!

It is. France has a different encode but I believe it has forced french subs.

Blocking and artifacts on a 2015 movie? Really? That would be crazy. The review here mentions that some of the movie was shot on pretty low-rent cameras, so maybe that is more what you're seeing that poor disc authoring.

The UK disc is from Universal (region free) and comes with a healthier bitrate.

This is either the UK or ES disc.

Thank you! Hopefully that helps improve the quality a bit on what I thought was a very poor looking picture for Blu Ray.

FTR, the same Universal disc will also be the German release, Sept., 3rd. The Canadian Mongrel release might be worth checking out for you though, features 25% higher bitrate vs US release (which has few more extras)

I just received the Mondo steel myself, the semi-permeable slip looks great imo. Haven't watched it yet (neither US, just UK so far), but what I read in this thread
no PQ issues ahead.

I actually just bought a copy of the mondo steel on eBay! Should be here by the end of the week, good to know it will have picture quality improvement. Thanks for the info!

That's cool , I bet you'll like it. Thought the steel looks actually better than the pics would suggest btw.
Comes with a google play digi copy, never had one and didn't use it.
Curious to hear about, though.
