Howard the Duck had a 70 MM blow up with 6 track Magnetic sound for its theatrical engagemnet. Even the DVD has a 5.1 audio. I hope the US BD release gets it right. Last edited by sartana; 09-20-2015 at 09:35 PM. |

Can anyone comment on Tobe Hooper's Funhouse? There are no caps on caps-a-holic, but it has a Scream Factory release here and an Arrow release in the UK. Usually the Arrow would be a no-brainer, but it's one of their early releases, so I don't know.

Hi HDGoofnut,
I would put in The Long Good Friday (1980) from Arrow Films in your list. The re-mastered 2015 UK version that was released on May 04th is amazing. The film is great too. It has AVC (34.97 Mbps) for the video and English: LPCM Mono (48kHz, 24-bit) for audio. Region B locked. The US version is from Image Entertainment and is the inferior version. Sure its been discussed before but now Ive got a region A player -
Are Drive (US) and The Prestige (US) noticeably better than the UK versions? I seem to remember seeing that both were better but also remember seeing arguments against this at a later date! |

Someone getting the UK disc of John Wick? Curious how it performs against the Nordic disc.

Keep thinking I read something to the contrary lately though. Maybe I imagined it!

Someone brought up their opinion of it featuring black crush, when in fact the other disc I believe it was either the DE or NL disc has increased brightness. The UK and US releases of Drive are the same apart from the higher bitrate of the US release and reduces any banding of which some can be seen in the darker shots on the UK disc. The Prestige, again is the same, but the US release is AVC encoded and higher bitrate, giving slightly more detail and without the slight green push that plagues old VC-1 encodes: http://www.caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergl...ess=#vergleich There is also a moment in The Prestige that features banding (the field of light bulbs), which the US disc performs better, due to the encode. |

I'd forgot this has been given a U.S. release. In my opinion the U.S. disc looks better than the DE: http://caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergleich...less=1#auswahl
