Same disc as in the Pentalogy (aside from the disc artwork).
I finally jumped on this. Currently a good enough price or I probably wouldn't have bothered.

It appears that all versions of "Ronin" are MPEG-2, even the JP - and none are on The List. Is there an AVC version I'm unaware of or a better option than the US release?

Looking at the recent Shout releases of Poltergeist II & III what do people think?

To my eyes the MGM releases appear to have better colour but the overall better picture seems to on the Shout versions.

The colours do vary between the two.

I'd give the edge to the Shout releases.

Everything looks better on the Shout to me with Poltergeist 2. I think people are just used to the too warm color timing of the DVD/first BD. Poltergeist 3 looks like a very minor upgrade.

Anyone got the HK disc for comparison? I bet the future KR disc will be best since the movie done so well all over.

Edit: would say FR wins a notch for PQ with better compression in dark areas and more picture on each side(less cropping) where US wins AQ with hopefully original 7.1 and english subs which make the choice easy for most.

What's the best release for Red Sonja in terms of filesize, bitrate, and grain structure? DE? UK? I have no idea yet. I don't want to buy a BD25 and find out there's a better version on a BD50 out there.

AFAIK the DE and UK disc feature the same transfer.

The Boy And The Beast:

US - AVC 1.78:1 34073 kbps, Japanese Dolby TrueHD 5.1 3345 kbps 96 kHz 16-bit, cropped
FR - AVC 1.85:1 25949 kbps, Japanese DTS-HD MA 5.1 4133 kbps 48 kHz 24-bit, more image.

What's the more interesting in terms of sound? 96 kHz 16-bit or 48 kHz 24-bit?

96 Khz 24-bit is always better, but you rarely see 96 Khz on anything but JP releases. Most 24-bit titles are 48 Khz

I'm sorry, I made a mistake, it's 96 kHz 16-bit or 48 kHz 24-bit. I've modified my post above.

French is closer to JP source I would say, 16-bit is downgrade and the 96hz is just funanimation upsamling.

JP specs
LPCM Audio, 6912 kbps, 5.1 / 48 kHz / 24-bit

but....US PQ is probably closer to JP since they have almost identical bitrate. And JP don't have eng subs so I would probably go for US disc anyways.

Should these be removed from the list (from what I've read it looks like the U.S. versions are best)?
Pretty Poison / Room With A View / Rumble in the Bronx / Exodus.

And a few more updates:

The Money Pit
US - MPEG 4 AVC, English: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, English SDH subs

Needful Things
US - MPEG 4 AVC 20940 kbps, English: DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0, English subs (Region A locked)

A Prayer For The Dying
US - MPEG 4 AVC 29994 kbps, DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0, English SDH subs (Region free)

Runaway Train
US - MPEG 4 AVC, 29994 kbps, English: DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0, English SDH subs (Region free)

Shattered
US - MPEG 4 AVC, 24944 kbps, English: DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0, English subs

Solarbabies
US - MPEG 4 AVC, English: DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0, no subs

The Unforgiven (1960)
US - MPEG 4 AVC, 21999 kbps, English: DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0, English subs

Where did you read US disc of Runaway Train is better than Arrows? Not saying it isn't but haven't seen any good comparison anywhere.
