Hey Goofnut,
I just read on various sites (which is confirmed here and on dvdcompare too) that the italian discs were also AVC.
So you might want to update the list

Is the U.S. version of Jackie Brown the best? In the reviews someone mentioned the Dutch version being better.

You should add the French Elephant version of Criss Cross (1949) being the best video quality vs. the US Shout version which is much softer.

For what it's worth, here are the specs for the Japanese release of Basic Instinct. Appears to be the same running time as the unrated version.

JP - AVC 38790 kbps, DTS-HD MA 5.1 2342 kbps 16-bit, no English Subs (Region A locked)
