It's certainly not this one, which is the most recent set:

I purchased it, the Apocalypse disc in this set is MPEG-2. Luckily it was only cheap.
Pretty sure both two above sets have it. I have the second one (newer) and that one is good. But buy first set (cheaper also?) if you are only after the better second movie since the added 4th movie is japanese only and hence no use

The Twilight Time release of The Killer Elite is Region Free, not Region A locked.

What do you mean by that?
Ah, wait, you mean the English sound is DD, right? That sucks. Why would they do that? Makes you wonder if only the JP voices are lossless.

I also noted that BRDC says that the 4th film is 3D. Is that 3D only? A flipper? Two discs? Hybrid? I would think that the Pentalogy would be better, but it lists the same bad sound for the 4th movie and 3D for both of the last two films. Weird.

Hey HD, I recall you decided not to include the Shout Factory releases of some Jackie Chan movies because they were bad Fortune Star's upscales. I think you should do the same with those atrocious german releases which can't be seriously called "Blu-rays"

Also guys, I suggest you stop importing discs from France right now.
French customers discovered that a LOT of Blu-rays had major playback issues.
2 releases from Metropolitan (Silent Hill 2 discs set, The Myth), 3 releases from Fox (Cleopatra digibook, Brazil digibook, Speed).
Most of the TF1 Vidéo, M6 Vidéo, Gaumont, Pathé, Europa Corp, MEP, Aventi and Wild Side releases are affected too.
The problem is spreading fast. It begun with a handful of dead discs but now french customers discovered at least 80 discs that were problematic.

I talked about this "Blu-Ray Gate" here: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...49210&page=101
And you'll get all the info you would need in my posts (with links to actual lists of the hypothetical defective french Blu-rays)

The issue with the French Silent Hill disc was first discovered on this site I believe. A member posted almost 2 years ago about how his disc no longer worked, however his post was overlooked. I noticed it around mid last year, which prompted me to check my disc, where I discovered it wasn't working either. I came back here to report it, mentioning the previous members post as well, and it developed from there. Others started checking theirs, and quite a few found to have the same issue, posting about it in both the U.S and French threads.

I quickly decided to repurchase it, just the single disc version, and I put it in my 2 disc set case. The disc works fine, hopefully it stays that way.

Great. My French DigiBook of Mr. & Mrs. Smith just arrived today. I can only hope that it was made before the flood.

Kind of wierd since French companies seem to do really good work on their blu-rays. Think I only own 2-3 blu-rays so it's not the end of the world if something were to happen. Maybe time to check that Silent Hill 2 disc

If I recall you get 3D only and only Japanese lossless. So no 2D disc and no english hd audio. Was kind of pissed when I found out but luckily the fourth movie is cheap around the world Maybe space issue?

And your Gaumont / Pathé too (I read a few pages back that you purchased titles that might be affected)

I sincerely hope it's not the case for you!

Keep in mind that this fiasco doesn't concern the 2009 / 2010 releases only!!
I have discs from 2011, 2012, 2013 that stopped working too.
The companies say to us that it's the factories' fault...
I must confess I don't care whose fault it is, what I know for sure is that I have 30 discs that are dead (and counting) and I'm pissed off.
Between this and the Criterion / Lionsgate / Well Go fiasco, I start losing faith in this media...

Anyway as many french releases are quoted here to be the best available worldwide, I thought it was my duty to report about this problem. Foreign customers deserve to be aknowledged.
Plus a lot of those releases are in the "black" list so it was important to warn everyone who might come and check HD's list.

You make it sound like nothing's being done. They often rerelease and replace titles here for far less egregious errors. With this many discs not even working, you would think that the entire country would be up in arms. Is anything being done to address this nightmare?

And, just to confirm that I understand (surely not ) : if my new French Mr. & Mrs. Smith plays this weekend, I can't count on it playing next week or next month or next year? The discs are fine and then they just suddenly ... die?

Cop Land- AVC, 1:78:1, DTS-HD 5.1 Theatrical Cut. Disc art states incorrect time, but it is theatrical

This is from the single disc edition, not the combo

Is the first set still available to buy any where? I thought it was OOP.

Yes.

I didn't check mine yet, but if it's a QOL disc (like most of the M6 Video discs), then there are a lot more chances for it to be affected. You may be just fine 'though.

Played fine, looked great, yet ... It is an M6 disc, how would I know if it's a QOL disc? But I'm baffled - and so is Google. I got nothing when I searched for info on this problem. I'd like to be specific : what, if anything, is being done? Are hundreds (thousands?) of French folks being forced to buy new discs (because the new discs are now okay)? Or are they just SOL (because the new discs are still shit)? Surely, if nothing is being done, no-one in France would buy BDs and the industry would collapse - in short order.

How many of these questions can you answer, or can you provide some links? For me, this is just one disc, but this boggles the mind and I'd like to learn more about it. I mean, it's like you told me that aliens had landed in France and were wandering about burning Alien discs because they were offended by them and nothing was being done about it. And, HD, if this is widespread, how can any French discs be best anything on The List?

Google is not silent, here is a link to Google about this issue (sorry but everything is in french obviously).
I gave another one already where you can get a full list updated every day/week.

Best thing you could do is relax. If the disc you have is working, you can enjoy it while it lasts and it may not be affected at all so try not to worry too much
All the first pressings are potentially affected 'though. But we don't know if there have been other runs since then (for example Gaumont confirmed there were none for their titles so "all" Gaumont manufactured by this plant are potentially affected).

However, all the french discs aren't manufactured by this plant.
There are at least 4 different plants in France.
Metropolitan, Sony, Studio Canal, Universal, Warner, Elephant Films, MGM, Opening, Carlotta seem all safe (except for 2 titles over thousands).
We just discovered a few Fox titles that are dead but in France, Fox, Pathé, EuropaCorp and Gaumont are "close" so it could explain why.

What about Madame de... from Gaumont? I haven't imported it (yet). It's the only release worldwide with the 4K restoration and not the faulty restoration originally used and put out by Criterion.

Also, T.S. Spivet 3D? Another Gaumont. I don't think it's out in 3D elsewhere.

Any list of titles known to have issues?

Edit: OK, so T.S. Spivet has a few other releases but they aren't as nice. Fewer discs (3D/2D on one disc) and no extras (though not all of it is English friendly, some of it is). And no storyboards. I want the French release but don't want to run into issues with the release...

Update.

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow DE disc is a BD25.

What's wired is that the disc includes the BBFC and Irish rating logos along with the FSK logo.

The disc defiantly features the DTS-HD MA track and AVC encode.
