Speaking of Mr. Klein, watched the Criterion over the weekend. Damn good movie and it's hard watching this guy make his situation worse as the film goes on. I didn't have any issues with the color timing and restoration, and again fantastic film. Probably Delon's best performance that I've seen.

I don't know.

That girl I had a crush on back in High School still doesn't like me. What kind of life fix is that?

Yes, and you call it a Krusty Burger despite the fact it is obviously a Steamed Ham.

You know, I'm from Utica, and I've never heard anyone refer to them as steamed hams.

Remember that the same thing happened with another Paramount license, Harold and Maude and shortly after Criterion's version went OOP as well.
Eureka have also announced Robinson Crusoe on Mars is OOP too.

There's definitely more open space up on top. But that would be a weird way to frame the movie while filming.

If you're asking about matting we have some posters that are experts on that, I believe we have an actual projectionist or two on here, and can explain it better but I'll try.

Pretty much all non-anamorphic films starting from around that 1953-1954 time period to modern times shoot a film in 1.37, but have markings on(?) or near the lens to frame the film the way it's expected to be shown in the theaters. When it gets to the theater the projectionist then mattes the film; I'm not going to pretend I know how they do that; into the ratio sent on the information given to them on projecting said film to cover/hide the image not supposed to be seen.

Sorry if that comes off as didactic.
Didactic, as needed!

Thanks for that and apologies for the late reply to offer them...

As with the post I was replying to, just pointing out it’s a Paramount licence that’s been lost in another region which *might* indicate they won’t renew Criterion’s licence for it either.

Well, I hope Criterion announces some long overdue DVD to 4K/Blu-ray upgrades, like Jubilee, Mala Noche, Victim, The Spirit of the Beehive, and the rest of The Orphic Trilogy. And, finally announces Atlantics, Mudbound, and maybe The Power of the Dog.

It’s technically possible though probably improbable. But you never know! There IS a precedent for them being today.
