But it can take some time. I've been selling a large group of Criterions. Half of them have sold. Some sold the first few days after I listed them. More recently, one will sell every now and then. Using ebay's "Buy It Now" function instead of an auction lets you keep items for sale for something like three months.

Ebay charges you when you sell something, then Paypal (owned by ebay, and the way most people want to buy and sell) charges you for the sales transaction. And don't forget your postage and packaging costs.

Oh, and if you're new to ebay, Paypal will hold your money for three weeks or so before you can access it.They do that to make sure that they don't get any complaints from buyers.
Cheers, all 3 Criterions plus 2 others are up there now. Had a look at similar prices plus what I want for them, gone for Buy It Now with free postage to Canada and only $1 to everywhere else. I've worked out the actually shipping costs so I was happy to offer it free / very low. I'm also a veteran

The Cassavetes set arrived today thanks to Amazon's sale. I'm very excited to dig into this! I haven't seen any of these since film class in college, so it's been a while. I'm going to read through the very nice looking booklet first, though.

Now I just need a) to sit down and watch these and b) the half-off B&N sale to arrive so that I can get the other set on my list, Zatoichi!

Yes it's now that they're always in contact, just that contact is virtually inevitable given how close they are and the fact that the cases are cardboard and prone to compressing inwards.

B&N 50% off sale next month? Hmmm... I've got 2-3 Criterion's left to watch but there are a lot on my Criterion wishlist.

Glad to know that I'm not the only one.

I would have Criterion replace it, but it seems a lot quicker and easier to just order another copy from Amazon.

I bought mine during the last Criterion Sale. Hopefully my copy will be ok, if not, at least I'll be dealing direct with Criterion though it will be a few months before I get around to watching it.

Such an amazing set! Zatoichi is as well. I've been holding out on every criterion I've wanted the past few months waiting for the BN sale.

B&N 50% off sale is supposed to be 7/1 thru 7/28. Just thought I'd throw that out there again. Not than anybody will read it.

It always seems that the sale is supposed to go until the day before the last July release. Most of the times, we've still been able to get that last July release in the sale. I hope we can again. I am looking forward to The Big Chill.

I've been watching through some Criterions this past week. Today I finished Red River. Excellent, though not one of my favorite Criterion films. A few days ago, I finally got around to a rematch of Criterion which I hadn't viewed since upgrading to Blu. Fun as ever. The gem though was Ace In The Hole. Just incredible.

I'm not sure if I'm watching the Pre-release Red River next. I may move onto watching Riot In Cell Block 11.

I'm looking to add Red River to my collection this weekend, depends a lot on condition of local copies.

That and Throne Of Blood, which I've not managed to find a decent copy of since its release. (Dings, dents, and scrapes, oh my. And broken cases too.)

Around the time of their 30th anniversary. Just a guess.

I love Red River. I watched the Criterion Blu-rays of both versions this past weekend, and I figure that the theatrical version will end up being one of my most-watched Criterion titles in the long run.

Speaking of westerns...

I do not usually embrace hyperbole, but I watched the new remastered Blu-ray of Sergio Leone's The Good, the Bad and the Ugly last night, and I think that it is the best thing since sliced bread. Actually, sliced bread is not all that great, so I'll just say that this Blu-ray is the best thing ever.

If the sale lasts through the release of Insomnia I'll end up with Zatoichi and the final seven Criterion blus I want to own (excluding the three OOP titles I can't get my hands on: Le Cercle Rouge, Chungking Express and Pierrot le Fou). It will be nice to be caught up & only worried about new releases from that point!

Red face A Hard Day's Night

I just finished watching my TCM recording of A Hard Day's Night. Honestly, I couldn't understand half of what they were saying, but I still enjoyed the film anyways. Not sure if I will buy it since Criterion won't be providing subtitles. Also, Robert Osborne was holding a copy of the Criterion release of AHDN after the film ended. The copy he was holding was definitely a digipak. So, is it safe to assume that the final packaging will be digipak?

I know that feeling. I could not understand most of what they were saying either.

By the way, according to Pro-B's review, Criterion has provided subtitles.

For the record, Criterion have provided optional English SDH subtitles for the main feature.
