Figured I'd ask. I own the World of Wong Kar-wai box-set. I was wondering, how much am I missing out on if I don't go out of my way to track down the original versions that were release on Blu-ray. I know someone had a guide before. If I watch the movies on the box set, I know I'm getting a lesser experience, but how much lesser? Is it substantial? If so, I will track down the original versions, but I did want to ask out of curiosity since I am not familiar with the movies.

Have their been any hints about Le Deuxième Souffle getting the Blu-ray upgrade soon? It's probably the biggest Melville film not on Blu-ray in the US and a pretty epic film. Actually surprised we have gotten another edition of Le Cercle Rouge and Army of Shadows before this.

Ritrovata still debating on how they can yellow the master before handing over.

Happy Inland Empire Week! (I hope. Just putting that out into the universe. In part because I'm seeing the restoration on the 15th and it'd be pretty cool to get the announcement that day.)

Janus released a new trailer for Mississippi Masala. It's the first time I recall seeing a themed version of the Janus Films logo intro.

I actually really want this, even though it's an AF joke. Hopefully some label makes it happen.

It being Good Friday, anywhere between the 14th and 19th becomes plausible...

Unlike in Australia, Good Friday is not a holiday in the US, same for Easter Monday.

Awful. Canada gets Good Friday is a statutory holiday. Easter Monday and Boxing Day are at the discretion of each employer, whether to permit those days off.

On another note,

The net's buzzing a little now because David Cronenberg's latest is supposed to be quite an uncomfortable watch, which makes me anticipate it all the more so. Glad he hasn't lost his bite.

Anyway, it's coming later this year from Neon, which gives me hope that we may one day see a Criterion edition of it. I can definitely see it happening down the road.

Either way, I'm dying to see it.

I assumed they were joking that Arrow releases the stuff like this that Criterion wouldn't touch.

I know you were going for a quick joke, but I think they've had a good history with Black & White films. No color to mess with so they actually focus on the restoration work.
