Wasn't there some talk or hint of Belle du Jour coming sooner or later?
That would make me happy!

There is no Bunuel on blu (in the US)

Except the release of Rushmore does not prevent Criterion from releasing any other film. It takes up a mere single slot in their release calendar, and represents exponentially less work than a new title as all the supplements and the basic package have already been worked out. And if this and other popular titles (Seven Samurai, Breathless, Fear & Loathing, etc.) were removed from Criterion's library, they would have considerably less monetary resources for the very niche films you say you want.

The whining and complaining surrounding Wes Anderson films is absurd. A large number of Criterion releases would be handled by another company were Criterion to not exist, so this singling out of select titles with the justification that they prevent Criterion from releasing rarer titles is hogwash. Not only is it not true (these releases help by putting money in Criterion's budget), but Criterion is not and has never been in the business of exclusively releasing rare films. They can choose to spend their time on whatever releases they deem interesting, and the whining of those who disagree with their choices comes off as simply biting the hand that feeds considering Criterion puts out a more diverse selection than any other company I can think of.

It is impossible to care about every whim of every customer as they are assuredly contradictory in infinite ways. By releasing Rushmore, they make a large number of other paying customers happy, and the Anderson-haters will still be there for other titles that are more to their tastes.

So no - they don't, and absolutely should not, care which titles/directors you hate.

Well, I absolutely don't care what you have to say.

OOOHHHHHHHHHHH.

Either way, it's still baffling that Anderson has fans of any sort.

Very mature argument, I can see I have been bested.

Your refusal to acknowledge the legitimacy of opinions other than your own is also a sign of a true man of the world.

How do we know for which month are all of these hints? I am sure I KNOWED but can't think of a reason to say, for example, the hint from Belle de Jour wasn't "confirming" it for November but the one for Rushmore seems to do so .

The newsletter clues hint at titles that will be released at some future date, whereas Criterion specifically states the month for most of the Facebook clues (such as Rushmore).

"NO NO NO! Criterion can't release I movie I don't like but a lot of other people do! I'm a paying customer so of course they should listen to me and not the other thousands of paying customers that are more than happy to get Rushmore!"

Seriously people grow up and quit having a fit over one great movie that you don't like

NOW I get it ! Thanks, it seems I got confused (and mixed) the "Newsletters" hints and the Facebook clues. Still hoping to see Belle de Jour released in the near future, it is about time Criterion gives some love to Bunuel. Los Olvidados and Viridiana would not hurt eirther .

Before all of this fighting happened, I just posted a video to make fun of the Wes Anderson hate I myself have been included in, in the past (out of just a funny moment with the people that knew about it, and I could care less if it's coming out again). So I like to say my post in no way should be included with what came after with the "anti-Anderson release" stuff.

Now with that said, with the bolded of your quote, I think if they should listen to the majority all the time, nothing will get released. I mean, if I listened to thousands of "movie fans", the IMDB list would be a credible source for great films (which it is not).

We would never see the likes of OUT 1, and just keep seeing Seven Samurai released over and over, and have to hear "why isn't David Lynch in the collection"? You know what I'm saying?

Criterion is, no, SHOULD BE, a company that takes "chances" on releases, since they are, no, SHOULD BE, releasing WORLD CINEMA to a U.S. market. What's the point of Criterion if they should listen to the majority of people asking for the same ol' titles you can prob get at your local Wal-mart? Again, this is in no way related to Wes Anderson, just your comment.
