Yep. I don't think anyone will be disappointed in what they see. Not every blu-ray can look like Tree of Life but it's quite pleasing to the eye.

A week or less for the January titles announcement. What's everyone wanting?

I'd like Passion of Joan of Arc & Odd Man Out so that I could comp to the UK releases and decide what to get.

Unrelated to blu-ray, but is anyone else interested in Three Wicked Melodramas from Gainsborough Pictures Eclipse box-set?
I know nothing about these films, but they sound like a lot of fun

I hope to buy Traffic, the Royal Tenenbaums and Fear and loathing in Las Vegas next to start my collection.

Milos Forman has two titles in the collection; Loves of a Blonde and The Fireman's Ball. CC has also said in the past that they'll be releasing Taking Off and Black Peter eventually.

Brian De Palma - Blow Out and Sisters

Sam Peckinpah - Straw Dogs (OOP)

There have been rumors that CC is working on Spike Lee's 25th Hour

I've learned to be patient when it comes to directors films getting into the Criterion Collection. Many of them have had films with the company back in the laserdisc days. It's a matter of time till some will comeback. . Francis Ford Coppola had BRAM STOKERS DRACULA which i was shocked then they picked that one.Quentin Tarantino had a PULP FICTION laserdisc which i believe has all the same special features as the current bluray. Paul Thomas Anderson had a Criterion for BOOGIE NIGHTS that had the John Holmes documentary that inspired the film however the current blu has all other features plus some others from the New Line DVD. Brian De Palma with CARRIE. So on and so on but my point is that Criterion has worked with these guys before and in time they'll work with again...... hopefully.

Definitely. I picked up several of his MoC titles last year and before I did, I asked if they were likely blu-ray releases and was told I needn't worry...dunno if that proves anything or not.

I'd say I did pretty good then

Blow Out and 3 Women are the only ones on BD, rather miss those than make it seem like there's only four worthwhile director's not on Criterion

McCabe & Mrs. Miller would be great, didn't know that.

I agree, I believe Criterion is not at fault here. This is definitely on Pathe. Go through the supplements on the disc about the restoration. I got the feeling that Pathe thought they were restoring The Bible. I believe they thought they could 'transform' the film into a modern jewel. As commented earlier, they removed all the grain and tried to put it back on to give it 'that film look'. Frankly, it backfired, as the film is very blurry and has no depth. It's like cleaning the bathroom floor with bleach, then putting the dirty bathmat back on it. I think Criterion had to use what was given to them and money was already spent. Hopefully they don't use the Pathe transfer of Le Samourai or the natives will be calling for heads.....

More Bergman, more Goddard, more Kurosawa. Criterion meat and potatoes.

I'm 99.9% they will announce:
Badlands (announcement)
Blob (announcement)

I also think they'll announce Eraserhead and Wild Strawberries.

I would like:
Mulholland Drive
Vanilla Sky
