I hear that. It was annoying that Fox released the film on DVD twice, and the two editions have different extras, so one couldn't just replace the older one with the newer one. The same will probably be true of a Blu-ray.

Just for the record, Criterion released both Help! and A Hard Day's Night on laserdisc.

The Beatles + Criterion = a match made in cinema heaven.

It makes sense anyway. The Rolling Stones are in the Criterion Collection. Only fair The Beatles get in there too.

In case you guys didn't realize it, I own one of the oldest/most popular U2 fan websites on the internet. I am about to redesign the whole thing soon. It is celebrating its 17th year online now. http://www.U2Station.com is the URL.
As a lifelong fan of U2 who has seen them three times in concert, I'd be pleased to see Rattle and Hum released as a Criterion title.

I want the Red Sun clue to be correct even more, though. The cast lineup is perfect, and I'm a big fan of Terence Young, who directed Dr. No and From Russia With Love.

Specific? No, not really. But using a Vinton raisin certainly makes it more obvious that it is supposed to be a raisin. And since it's in the sun...

Ah, yes, Rex & Herb. Who were (at least at one point) parodies of Siskel & Ebert. In fact, if memory serves, they started out as parodies of S&E, and were later used more generically.

I'm really hoping that Richard Lester's short The Running, Jumping, and Standing Still Film is included with A Hard Day's Night, given that it's what got the Beatles interested in Lester. And this is a massive pipe dream, but I'd really like a commentary with Richard Lester and Steven Soderbergh, maybe an elaboration on their discussion in Getting Away With It.

I've only seen Cherbourg, but that was enough for me to be all over a Demy set.

I know it's off topic to talk about U2 on a Criterion thread, but I have to say it's really cool that you own that website. Maybe they'll release a U2 cc title in 2016 (40th anniversary of the band).

Well, The Running, Jumping, and Standing Still Film was included as an extra on Criterion's laserdisc of A Hard Day's Night. Well, the original CAV edition, anyway. Unfortunately, I have only the CLV edition, which does not have the short. So I imagine that Criterion would want to include it as long as there's no current rights issue.

They probably wouldn't own MPI's standalone "You Can't Do That" making-of documentary, although think Apple does own a piece of that.
(The one where we find out young Phil Collins was in the screaming audience.)

Certainly looks like a boxset, as there's no other conceivable way to interpret the Donkey Skin.
(Saw it on Fox Lorber VHS years ago; it's a cute version of the French fairytale with some 60's-Paris sensibilities...Imagine Umbrellas of Cherbourg meeting the Disney made-for-TV R&H's Cinderella.)

If they get the rights to Hard Day's Night, it would be awesome to get the full YCDT documentary. And the Running, Jumping, and Standing Still film (Remastered). And a commentary. God I hope this gets released.

I know the film has gotten mixed reviews, so I need to see it so I can make up my mind. Speaking of mixed music films, we'd all know what they'd be releasing if a Zeppelin was in the sky, am I right?

They come off a little pretentious in the film but I like it a lot. It's what turned me into a U2 fan.

Yes. My point was that it appears something in the database doesn't have it listed as Out of Print - which can be interpreted as there being plans for it to re-enter print (or, more likely, be part of a Tati Box Set, as may be the plan). Or possibly it's just not had all the checkboxes ticked and it is, in fact, staying out of print. Somebody posted about a month ago they had heard rumblings it would re-enter print, though, so I'll cross my fingers...

DVDBeaver's End of Year Poll http://www.dvdbeaver.com/Blu-ray_and..._Year_2013.htm

Criterion killed it this year! So yeah, agreements? Observations? Currently I only own one of the top 10 (MoC Mizo set), with one more on the way (Marketa).

Thanks! I created that site (U2station.com) in 1997! Still online after all these years (and a VH1/MTV nomination I received back in 2001 for the "coolest fan website" award). If Criterion should ever release Rattle & Hum, they should include Under a Blood Red Sky in the supplements too. One can only dream, right?
