I would like to watch Hairspray too, but I'm not sure about the weirder stuff..
Yeah Hairspray and maybe Serial Mom is probably his tamest films. If you're easily offended, I'd avoid Female Trouble, Multiple Maniacs, Pink Flamingos, & Desperate Living. Polyester slightly offends, maybe you can watch that.

Serial Mom was pretty fun to watch lol - came across it on Netflix

Chris Eigeman in the Criterion Closet.

Notice the response when he asks about Contempt. They say "but" twice and don't finish the sentence. Is that a reach for wishful thinking for a StudioCanal deal?

Cry Baby is great for what it is. Definitely a John Waters take on that era. I love the trio of Johny Depp, Iggy Pop and John Waters. Plus Ricky Lake is in it.

Hairspray is much easier to just sit and enjoy without thinking, "what the heck am I watching?". Also, as others talked about earlier, Pecker and Serial Mom.

Maybe he was trying to say:

"But you can get the Studiocanal edition"

Yeah, I do wonder what he was going to say there.

Is that Mulvaney in the background?

And, who knew Eigeman has inflection in his voice and does not always talk like he is reading a prissy novel? At least Stillman would have us think that of him.

Actually I am pretty sure the person in the background is the guy I met last year. I've heard the same voice on other videos and it sounds familiar.

He might have planned to say, "but you can get it on eBay."

Default Desert Island List

I'm a little late to the party, but here is my desert island list. I've chosen films from the collection that I own and that I think have (for me) the most rewatch value. They aren't necessarily the ones that I think are the best, but the ones that I would enjoy watching over and over. I've listed them alphabetically.
  1. Ace In the Hole
  2. The Big Chill
  3. The Gold Rush
  4. A Hard Day's Night
  5. It Happened One Night
  6. The Killers
  7. Red River
  8. Seven Samurai
  9. The Sweet Smell of Success
  10. The Third Man
Have a great weekend, all.

Except for maybe Ghibli. I still prefer watching the first time with the Japanese audio, but the English dubs are usually pretty good. Of course animation and live action dubs are a different animal.

Pecker is a fantastic film, and I was wondering if someone was going to mention it; thank you for doing so! Just thinking about Jean Schertler's outrageous performance as Memama makes me guffaw with laughter; she alone is worth the price of admission. Definitely an underrated gem!
