Saw this on Criterion's site, the Berlin International Film Festival has restorations of seven films including:

HaChayim Al-Pi Agfa (Life According To Agfa)
Dir: Assi Dayan, Israel, 1992

Der Himmel über Berlin (Wings of Desire)
Dir: Wim Wenders, Germany / France, 1987

Since I learned of the Criterion line John Water's, 'The Wall', and 'Welcome to the Dollhouse', for some reason, were all films I expected from Criterion.... That and 'Dancer in the Dark', 'Hedwig and the Angry Inch', and 'Requiem for a Dream'. Hell, any of those would suffice.

Seriously. Raise the Red Lantern and a proper release of Hero.

I'm chomping at the bit for certain titles, but on the other hand I'm hoping the whole year is slow if they're releasing as much Bergman as I'm hoping, cuz that's all my money would go to.

Aside from Bergman hoping for the usual suspects:
Sixteen Candles
The Hong Kong cut of The Grandmaster
upgrades of Made in the USA and Masculin Feminin
X-rated cut of The Devils
Lost Highway
Wild At Heart

and, of course, Young Guns II.

Lost Highway and Dead Man for me. I won't be surprised if Antonioni's The Passanger will be announced soon, especially since the Indicator label have already announced it for March in the UK

The Indicator release is multi-region, though, so I wonder if Criterion would be licensed to bring it out too. I'd hope so.

If you're happy with the shorter, non-director's cut, then ok. But an HD master doesn't exist yet for the 205-minute version (as least, the last I heard anyway).

True, but even Dr Strangelove was region free on the Sony Blu Ray and that didn't stop Criterion releasing it pointlessly on Region locked discs.

The 205 minute version isn't the directors cut.

I'm so glad I sold my DVD copy of The Virgin Suicides last summer. I knew that it would eventually get a blu-ray release.

I think they should announce it soon or many would end up going with the Indicator release. I am currently eyeing the Indicator release.

Something Swedish is coming.

Doing too many things right now to deduce it.

EDIT: 99.9% sure it's an Eclipse set.
