Well, several Sony discs, like Fury and The Interview, had black crush, but that was due to their incorrect encoding and not the masters themselves. With Criterion doing their own encoding, that wouldn't be the issue.

I always put off getting the older releases I want - The Wages of Fear, 12 Angry Men, Ali: Fear Eats the Soul, etc. Will tomorrow be the day I finally go through with it?

The only thing stopping me is that I already have two Criterions coming in the mail - obviously Night of the Living Dead and The Silence of the Lambs (both blind buys, believe it or not).

Today I'll be taking delivery of two long-awaited Criterion Blu-rays. Isn't it great when a Blu-ray release is actually released when it's supposed to? So many indy labels plagued by endless delays.

Looking forward to my first Crietrion sale. Kinda scared about going overboard but you only live once.

Took some time to catch up on my Criterion backlog over the weekend. Breakfast Club and Bittle Rocket were a few old favorites that I really enjoyed revisiting. Both looked great. Also watched Stalker, which was equal parts mesmerizing and tedious. Beautiful movie and can’t wait to watch it again, but I could help but think it could have been just as affecting if it was 30 minutes shorter.

Lastly, I finally watched the Criterion Mulhilland Drive disc. For a long time I considered this to be my favorite movie but I can’t say I enjoyed this disc. Lots of weird artifacts and noise that I found very distracting. Really hope it gets cleaned up in a 4K release some day.

I'm a little skeptical about there being a sale today. No offense to the user who broke the news, but he/she isn't one of the typical people who usually have these kind of scoops. ...and all the stipulations of the sale are obviously copied from a past sale because it doesn't seem to be public anywhere.

I've been wrong plenty, so maybe I will be again, but just saying...

If you're region-free the StudioCanal UK release is supposed to be an upgrade, encoding-wise, on the Criterion.
