Criterion is going to release Stranger Than Paradise...in 3D!

https://www.criterion.com/current/po...m-jim-jarmusch

Anyway, apart from an April Fool's joke, I think it's really possible that Criterion is doing a 4K restoration of Stranger Than Paradise.

Heads up: the awesome, awesome House of Games is on the free streaming app TubiTV. (I think you have to pay a buck to remove the pesky ads, but I can't be sure).

(Otherwise it can only be seen in HD for $4 on apple)

Excited about receiving House, and I'm looking forward to watching it tonight. Blind bought and going in blind. I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

Time for those buffoons over at Criterion to upgrade it to BD along with Mamet's masterpiece Homicide.

Enjoy! I have a pretty modest collection of Criterions (~45) but House is my favorite. Such a cool movie.

Jon Mulvaney just sent me an invitation to come visit the Criterion HQ in NYC! I can't believe it folks... he's actually a real person!

I have to be the luckiest man on earth.

So just finished watching House. What a bizzar and wonderfully absurd movie. I sat grinning at some of the goings on and even found myself laugh-out-loud at certain scenes too. By the midway point in the movie, I was completely into the story and was hoping for the girls to prevail. Totally likable characters- loved their cute nicknames. Glad I finally bought this. No regrets and will watch frequently I'm sure. Not for everyone, to be sure, but I really liked it.
4/5
BTW, also liked the soundtrack, it's as chaotic as the movie itself.

I'm wagering that since the After Hours blu-ray has popped up on an Italian site, released by Warner, that Criterion probably doesn't have it here. If WB has a master ready and is releasing it in other regions, then I assume they will be the ones releasing it in the US. Could be wrong though.

They released Badlands themselves in other regions.

Before or after Criterion released it here?
Apparently just last year, 5 years after Criterion released it. So it still stands to reason WB will be releasing it, or a Criterion release is imminent.

Um, saw The Age of Innocence (albeit through the European german blu rather than the Criterion, but same glorious master) and I was utterly wrong about this. This is top tier Scorsese and absolutely fabulous. Day Lewis, Pffeifer and even Ryder are astonishing.

And between this and seeing the almost masterpiece Cutter’s Way yesterday night (via the Twilight Time blu), I couldn’t have asked for more from my weekend viewing!

Perhaps I should give it another look. I thought it was a poor man's Visconti when I last watched it.

I actually thought the same but completely changed my mind (last viewing was probably 8-10 yrs ago).

Also, Criterion happens to have a phantom page for the director:

I think you're correct. Warm Current is a Shochiku film. They've licensed quite a few films to Criterion.
