I want it to be the 4K restoration of Coppola's DEMENTIA 13 (1963) that was done by Zoetrope last year.

Leon Gast directed both When We Were Kings, and The Grateful Dead movie, the latter co-directed with Garcia. So it makes complete sense that the clue would be for both films.

BTW, where is that picture? I just scrolled around jerrygarcia.com for a while, and all the pics (either photos or drawings) I saw were the traditional long haired ones, including the actual banner on the site. I don't doubt you that it's there, I'm just curious how long it took to actually find it amid all of the other normal pictures.

Regardless of what the clue was meant to convey, it still looks like FFC to me.

I realize this, but its not going to be both releases, right? If you had to choose, which film would it be?

Why can’t it be both? We can’t it be a box set?

Does this mean a Criterion release is likely to happen?

Yeah, I scratched my head trying to find Bringing Up Baby in that clue and came up empty.

That was with Kino and it may still be with them.

I’m wondering if we’ll get The Intruder (1962) this year? It was a filmstruck title and just got a release in France this month via Carlotta films. Is it Public Domain here?

The Carlotta restoration looks very sharp. WARNING- trailer Probably NSFW due to racial slurs.

It was restored by the World Cinema Project. Don't those usually go to Criterion?

Totally doubtful but...I also thought of Farewell to the King (written/directed by John Milius, who co-wrote Apocalypse Now, which Francis Ford Coppola directed too). And that guy with the beard def. looks like Coppola! Hell, it might even look like Milius when he was younger too!
If you want it to be a Coppola clue, the best fit would have to be "The Rain [Reign] People". (I don't actually think it is a Coppola clue, though.)

I've been waiting for this too. The Kino DVD I had looked terrible, btw. A blu-ray upgrade is much needed.

Either way, it's not a great clue.

Yesterday's solution seemed so final... Is this the most confusing newsletter clue ever?

I get that people have some trouble with that being Jerry Garcia, but in what world could that be Allen Gingsberg??
Ginsberg looks like the drawing (somewhat) in this video.

I had trouble with it too, but the Janus tweet seems to put it beyond doubt.
