I think the problem here lies in Criterion knowing its fanbase , and at the same time NOT knowing it's fanbase. Like someone mentioned hear why not have Godzilla or any of these titles at least 1 of them release as their 1st 4K Ultra disc 8 million pixel disc? and the rest be their bland vanilla tried and true 1080p 2 million pixel rips.

It's a nice trendy autistic set. A 4k UHD Eyes Wide Shut? Oh mah gawd I'd have died and paid 40+ for that. To me this might as well be some Wal Mart boxset. I do love the inlcusion of these and the Godzilla vs. King Kong is great, but at the end of the day is this even worth 100 bucks on BF? Nope I'll pass, and keep waiting for them to catch up with their other fanbase the 4K premium tv set owners. Good job Criterion! Congrats on 1000 Blu Ray standard discs!

The logic on display here is nothing short of amazing.

It's funny, every now and then I'll choose to reveal the post of someone on my ignore list, just to see if I were mistaken in adding them there. And time and time again they prove within a sentence or two why they earned their place on the list. At least they're consistent I guess.

I can't believe some of the opinions being thrown around for a product that is not even out yet. Also trying not to call out ridiculous statements is hard sometimes.

Criterion doesn’t release what I want? But daddy, don’t they know who I am? I think so highly of myself and my opinions and they need to personally consult me about what to release?

With the sarcasm done, the collection of Godzilla is Criterion worthy, whatever that nonsense means.

Well the implication by the guy who said he wasn't implying anything, is that the sequels are not worthy. That they'd be better off with another label such as Arrow. I don't think it would be presumptuous of me to assume that he wasn't referring to Arrow Academy.

I do happen to believe that the majority of Godzilla films shouldn't be in the CC. They're more suited for a release by Scream Factory. The honest truth though is that the fan base for these kinds of films is very large and very loyal. While I have zero interest in these films, the good news is that this set will likely sell extremely well and sales of this set will allow Criterion to release and restore more smaller films that won't move the same number of units.

We saw this with the Warner Archive. For a while they were seemly only releasing horror movies and cult films. Since then, the variety of their releases has increased and they've announced many pre-1950 titles, including classic animation and acclaimed pre-code films.

Of course I wasn't actually suggesting people be banned. It was a facetious post meant to illustrate a point.

Nothing wrong with voicing an opinion, but some people seem personally offended by announcements. The level of obnoxious entitlement on display gives free speech a bad name.

I'm curious about Criterion's shipping practices when ordering from their site. For those of you that have ordered directly from them, do they ship in sturdy packaging? Do the items usually arrive in mint or close to mint condition? Do they arrive on release date? Thanks for any and all assistance. I suppose I could just go to their website but I'd rather hear from those with experience.

Is this the first time Criterion has released a film that was also on MST3K?

Exactly this. It's not like Criterion has a limited number of spine numbers to assign. Just because something you don't want is announced doesn't mean there is less of a chance that something you do want will be released in the future. If you don't want it, don't buy it. The complaining and sense of entitlement on this forum has gotten so ridiculous lately...

I think Abe might rethink that sentiment if he skimmed social media for, oh I don't know, ten or so minutes.

The chances of finding somebody who doesn't ***** about something are virtually nil as are the chances of finding something nobody *****es about.

I think today he might go with something a little more like 'people are going to whinge no matter what you do and half the time half of them don't know what they want anyway so **** it, I'm just going to do what I think is right, suck on that, haters'.
