That ^ said, many in the audience were film archivists by trade.

Heh. So much for Guardians "switching between 4K and 2K", eh?

I still don't quite understand how people inferred that from James Gunn's comments in that interview.

Maybe they had a higher master?

But to be honest, the Dolby Cinema releases are also 2K.

2K madness.

Well, Deadpool had a 2K DCP and 4K Dolby Cinema release. Maybe a situation like this?

No, like I said the Dolby Cinema release is 2K as well.

Futher one we don't know if there is a higher master created, for the archive? But I doubt that, as the Dolby Vision master should be top of the bill.

Indeed. Even though they were touting all that 8K camera stuff and having the highest polygon count for a CG effect EVER etc etc, you just knew it was gonna be 2K.

It's hilarious, people here expect 6K/8K masters from 35mm film and then they get 2K masters for digital movies shot in 8K.

Is it just me, or has it gone a bit quiet on new release announcements on 4K? It seems to be dribs and drabs at the mo after a few nice chunks of releases?
I'm getting paranoid now its losing steam a bit

Lots of catalog stuff coming I want. You probably just aren't interested in what's coming out. I see the same thing in label threads all the time. "Shout not releasing much lately" when they're releasing the same amount as before.
