I want to add one more thing; I don't lend out collector's items etc.
Like steelbooks because those things can be damaged easily and I don't want that because collector's items cost much more than the normal plastic-case releases. So if someone wants to lend a movie and I've only got a collector's release I will say that I don't have it because I don't like to tell someone that they can't have it ![]() |

No, not usually. If it comes with the DVD I'll loan that out if someone asks. With that said I've currently loaned out my three seasons of Spartacus to a friend at work. He is a really good guy and has done much for me in the past that I had no problem doing so.

im to anal with my dvd's, cd's and blu-rays,
none of my friends have blu-ray, their too cheap. i loaned one of my cd's to a friend and he kept it for 6 months. i loaned him grease on vhs back in the 80's and his vcr snapped the tape when it was done rewinding and i only had the tape for a few weeks and i said to my friend it would be nice if you bought me a new copy since your player broke it, he said its not my fault the player broke the tape, ever since then i wont loan him anything. he's a cheap bastard, and he is loaded. Then many years later saw that i had a movie that he wanted to see , he said can i barrow the dvd from you because blockbuster wants $4 to rent it. i said well i want $5, that was the end of that.,i wont even loan my brother and his family my dvd's, i see how they mishandle thiers. they dont put the dvds back in the cases. and they have dust and finger prints allover them. |

Some of you say you get your Blu's back with scratches?? They dont scratch unless you take a razor or something to them. I use to loan Dvds and never got em back or I would get em back destroyed. Blu I dont mind because they dont scratch and I kick ass if they dont return them...lol

My DVD's and Blu-ray's receive a life sentence without the possibility of parole. For the remainder of their days they serve hard time in one of my maximum security Sony DVD/Blu-ray changers never to see the light of day again. This is a well known fact among my circle of family and friends. Even so, I'm still routinely asked if one of my inmates can be granted a work furlough. Just ain't happening. Conjugal visits are not even allowed. Getting fingerprints all over the inmates can have serious consequences when it comes time for them to perform their duties.

I learned my lesson a couple of decades ago with my CD collection... I do not lend items to friends. However, I did lend out quite a bit of my blu-ray collection to one friend in particular who is more OCD than I am (which is saying something). Out of 80 some odd discs lent, not one fingerprint! Though limited editions / Criterions are a hell no for anyone.

I have in the past but... not anymore. Although few of my friends have a blu-ray player one or two do and I get worried until they're returned. Before we moved into our home we lived in an apartment which was broken into and 38 of my blu-rays were stolen. Almost replaced all of them. If anyone wants to see a movie in a blu-ray home theater set up they watch them with our family now.

Used to loan my DVDs and VHSs, but I no longer loan anything out.
Things don't always come back, and when they do they're always f***ed up, no matter how well the person tried to take care of it. Disks with scratches, cases with scuffs. No thank you. Nope, nope, nope. |
