+1. There are some people that I dont trust to have them. Like people with toddlers who know how to change of the disc. Their not touching my BD's. I dont let my own kid touch them, lol, he knows better.

Hell
No.

I am too damned uptight about the condition of the disks, slipcovers and cases.

i lend out the dvd that came with it.
the one or 2 times ive lent out a blu i put it in a clear ps3 case with a blockbuster sticker on it and added another sticker with the date i lent it to them written on it in marker.
this usually freaks them out a little and they return it within a day or 2. plus their kids/pets/roomates cant f'up my case.

NEVER! Blu-rays, DVDs, VHS, and so on never leave my house. Even the wife knows to ask before she takes a film from the library, and when we have a kid I'll be sure to lock the door to the library at all time. My collection is my life and if anyone were to harm it in any way they would surly have to die. Or at least pay me back the SRP plus a little more for emotional damage. As crazy as all that might sound, I have put a lot of time, effort, AND MONEY into my cinema collection over the last ten years. A good 75% of my week is devoted to watching films, buying films, or surfing the web to read about cinematic related topics. I also have my own personal web site devoted to my collection and I write reviews for every film I watch. Over the years my harmless cinema collection has turned into a lifestyle and I have no problem with that. Just don't ask to borrow anything.

Nope, like said before it sucks to hassle people to get stuff back. And it REALLY bothers me if cases/discs/slipcovers gets damaged.

My brother-in-law wanted to borrow Transformers, so I lent it to him. I got it back in a few days, no problem. Then he wanted to borrow Transformers 2, so I let him borrow it. But this time, several weeks went by and he still had it. One day, I was talking to my sister-in-law and asked, "Are you finished watching Trans. 2? We wanted to watch it this weekend." She said, "Oh, we still have that?" Needless to say, I won't be lending out my movies to them anymore.
On the other hand, one of my neighbors is new to blu and he has borrowed several of them, but returned them in a timely manner. I will usually give a person at least one chance to borrow them. But if you abuse it, then your "membership priviledges" are terminated.

I will let my close friends borrow my films, but only a few at a time, and I ask for them back after a week or more.

I have gotten burned before. My aunt borrowed a ton of my DVDs and she never gave them back, and I believe her son went up to my room once when they were over and he stole a ton of my choice films. He stole the disc to Fight Club, Saving Private Ryan, and quite a few others. I have since guarded my collection closely and those who want to go up to my room when visiting are escorted by me.

It is nice to see others that are protective of their collections.

I don't know many people who even have a Blu-ray player yet, so there's really no need for me to lend them out. But if asked, I would certainly lend them out, but only to those I know would take care of them, as it's scary to see the way that some people treat their discs

interesting story...

i actually just lost two friends over this very issue. well, maybe not "lost" them, i'm sure they'll come back around once they calm down, but for the time being they're pretty pissed.

so as the story goes, i sold my old BD player to a buddy of mine and his girlfriend, (both of whom i've known for over 10 years) for cheap since i have my PS3.

well, after having it for a week, they start buying blus on a vicious basis - much like myself - and then when they come over, they look at my collection and say, "oh, i haven't seen this movie. can we borrow it?"

i NEVER lend out my blus. to ANYONE. for any REASON.
and when i explain that these are my children and that they do not leave my home once entered, they through a fit. screaming about how "we're best friends and it's only a movie!" and blah blah blah. either way, long story short. never sell an old BD player to your friends.
