As others have shared, I used to loan out movies back when I first started collecting DVDs. I've been burned a couple of times, too. Now, with the collecting passion this site has helped create, there are probably only a few, cheap dollar tree or BBV closing sale movies that I'd CONSIDER lending out, but probably wouldn't even do that. Other period tend to not show the care I do for my own stuff.

I don't lend movies to anyone.... I just give them out and say keep it or pass it to the next person. Ex: My gf's mom wanted to borrow Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. I had extra copies, I just gave them to her.

I think we're all assuming that you only have 50 odd films in your collection after two years of been a member here because you've given the rest away.

Friends are nice and all but you can't take 'em with you when you go. I'm getting buried in a giant Digipak with all my proper mates....

Oh and if you don't mind me asking can I borrow The Shining buddy? I promise to look after it....

I don't care... ? Its just a disc xD.
But I don't loan out much movies, since most of my friends download everything or buy it if they really want it .

There is only one thing that annoys me: I don't mind lending stuff out, but I hate it when people bring it back and don't tell me that they've damaged the item. I won't ask them to refund me or something, but I would appreciate it if they're honest .

Other than that: it is just plastic people .

Hardly any of my friends watch Blu-Ray unfortunately. I'd loan it them sure, but its my family members who seem to have sticky fingers!

I have a limited list of family/friends that take care of the merchandise I loan them so yes.

OOP or limited editions or alternate regions do not leave my house though.

I have had similar experiences, even going back to VHS. I loaned someone a copy of The Karate Kid, they lost it made me another copy that was garbage. On dvd I had one scatched and one they let their kids play it and found a slew of fingerprints all over it. Granted fingerprints are not the end of the world, but I expect it back in the same exact way I loaned it out. So now only to a few very very close friends.

Really? Is that what you're all assuming? Okay..
I've sold off most of my collection, I don't feel the need to own a bunch of movies. Quality over quantity for me.

Uh..okay

Nope, not a friend, sorry.

You shouldn't feel stupid asking for something that you own. The person who borrowed it from you ought to be ashamed of themselves the fact that they had it for six months. It's common sense that if someone lends you something is to return it asap not wait for you to ask for it back. It's rude and inconsiderate of them I think and never will I lend them a single thing ever.

man the stacking of the disc ontop of the case drives me up the wall, I'm like how much more effort would it take to put it back in the case...

For whatever reason I'm more likely to loan a DVD but not a Blu... I hate having an empty spot on the shelf, drives me insane.

I did once...never going to do it again. I loaned out Iron Man couple years back and took me six months to get it back, my friend just kept making excuses. I just say you want to watch then we can at my house. They know that, so they never ask.

I lend them out but almost never get them back. I'm just the kind of person who doesn't know how to say no and also doesn't like to bug somebody continuously until I get it back. I lent out The Silence of the Lambs to my girlfriend's brother and haven't got it back yet.... it's been about a month.
