For example, PM has offered from very sage information about films that got a "full digital washing" to achieve a particular look (Zodiac) at the specific request of the Director or DP, films that have had unintended exposure problems corrected to save what would otherwise be best takes, historical films that have had very lightly applied DNR to fix troublesome issues w/o destroying the intent of the authors, etc. In all of these respects, DNR is a valuable tool if used carefully. But the more recent debate, and I think the only one that we should be allowed to continue in this thread is the "how much is too much?" question. At what point do you interfere with the historical or artistic value of the film by overuse of DNR to digitally "fix" it (analagous to fixing a pet.) Then again, if PM is tired of that discussion too we can (quietly, without complaining) go elsewhere to duke it out, Thunderdome style. Thoughts? -John |

![]() And for the record, it wasn’t just “beating a dead horse”, the pertinent point was that this particular aspect of post processing was being used as a vehicle to jump to inappropriate, incorrect conclusions and motivations regarding the format in general and essentially all studios publishing in Blu-ray. ^ Untrue, unfounded rhetoric by folks that are not in the loop and have never been so. |

Hi Penton
I remember paidgeek saying something about a single disc version of Close Encounters early this year. Also I remember reading about a Blade Runner digibook/single disc version as well. Any truth to this? |

And on that note, anyone who comes in here and questions Penton's status or information is absolutely out of their mind. I've followed this thread for over a year now dating back to the heated format war and Penton has ALWAYS been 100% accurate with all of his hints, tips, news bits, etc. in how everything played out. There has never been any reason to ever doubt his information no matter who he is or who he works for. Nuff said.
