Looks like it to me. That brownish ring around the outside edge looks just like how some of my Criterions did.

At least 3 of the ones listed I own and were mentioned (somewhere) before as possible bronzers, i.e., Event Horizon, Cloverfield and Shine A Light. And now there's two more pertinent ones to check when I get a chance (the Jack Ryan ones).

Yes, those are listed in the OP.

If more people report Paramount discs rotting, I'll add them to the OP.

I've also come across a copy of this movie that would skip and stutter. Adding to the OP.

I've used this thread. Very grateful to everyone who has contributed. Luckily the only disc that I had that was affected was IP Man. IP Man 2 was fine, so was Cloverfield, and I've had the others like Starship Troopers replaced years ago when replacement programs first started.

What is the issue with Disney's Unbreakable? I just bought it a few weeks ago, and didn't notice it prior times when checking the lists. There is no other info listed in the first post. Any help is appreciated....

There are a few points in the film where a slight popping can be heard in the soundtrack. Nothing dramatic or speaker-damaging, and literally only in two scenes, but it seems like a pretty clear error. There is nothing wrong with individual discs, it's in the master audio track used to create the Blu-ray.

Disney never addressed it in the US or did replacement discs or anything, but the UK release of Unbreakable has fewer and quieter pops. My guess is that they investigated, found that the problem was truly in their master copy of the audio, so they did their best to edit the faults out without being too heavy-handed.

Good ole physical media. It's so much better than a digital download.

Could you tell us a bit more about how you store your BDs? For example, are they on a wall next to a bathroom or the kitchen? Are some of them near AC vents? Thanks!

I have a 1000sq ft room just for movies/games stored in metal drawers designed for video stores.
Heater vents are far from my collection.
I just came to this forum for help since the studios/paramount/lionsgate are ignoring me.

I hope you're storing the discs in their original keepcases. Some people who've put their discs in binders have encountered serious disc rot.

Full BD quality DRM free downloads would be the best thing without question, but no one's ever going to sell that.

Why? So you can store them on hard disks that will eventually fail as well?

Properly built discs are the best solution. Now the fact that not all discs are built properly in order to compensate for the costs of having prices cheap enough for consumers that cry over $5 is a totally different subject.

Not to mention that if there's ever a nuclear war, the EMP will wipe out your digital download collection, while your Blu-rays and DVDs will still be playable. Assuming, you can find a player without fried chips.

Sent my M, Monsoon Wedding and Sanjuro disc back May 29th and got back today M & Monsoon Wedding. Also got a card stating that they are waiting on Sanjuro discs to arrive and they would be sent out when they receive them.

with the criterions, has anyone actually got back titles that WEREN'T on Criterion's "listed" 7 or so titles? I know some people said they could turn them in, but I hadn't seen anyone get any back yet since all of mine that are failed come from ones OFF the official Criterion "list"

The post right above yours has an example of one such: Monsoon Wedding. I think there have been a few others too. If it's not playing, I'd send it in, as it doesn't appear that their "listed" titles are being updated.

(Me I keep meaning to get through the rest, but just don't quite make it. Maybe tonight I'll get to another one. Coincidentally, Monsoon Wedding was the last I watched a few weeks ago and it played fine... still have a few supplements to get through yet though. (And I did get replacements for all the "listed" titles a while back).)
