What's the problem? Only thing I see is maybe some red around the inner ring, but it's hard to tell if that's just the way the light is reflecting or if you're seeing the red label from the front of the disc (if it is red?).

It’s not the red(which is from the disc label). It’s the white around the ring, like the disc isn’t “complete” if that makes sense.

Yeah I see that on discs all the time, and it has never been a problem. That's far past the readable portion of the disc.

Has anyone had any luck getting WB to replace a disc suffering from disc rot? I have a brand new copy of WWE: Sting Into The Light by WWE Studios, distributed by WB that is suffering from disc rot. The blu ray was released back in 2015.

I checked my The Simpsons Movie and Manhattan discs and Simpsons works fine but Manhattan is dead as a doornail. I never even watched the damn thing. I may as well have just donated money to the Fox Charity Division. Are ALL copies of Manhattan affected or likely to be soon? How about the Region B from the UK? Any issues with that one?

Didn't watch Manhattan yet, but soon... However I did back up my copy and there did not seem to be any issues doing so, so for the time being it may be okay. Glanced at the backup a little bit here and there on my computer so perhaps it is fine.

It and Annie Hall will get some real blu-ray player play before too long. (May need to find some sort of program for withdrawal from my dvr addiction first though, can't seem to keep up with it. The wife working from home during prime watching hours puts quite a damper on all such things.)

There have been no reports of any problems with the Arrow edition from the UK. I received one the other day and watched it after discarding my US edition to the bin were it belongs.

Very thankful (and as someone before me mentioned slightly terrified haha) to discover this thread. I frantically checked all of my discs and the only one that seems to be having any issue is Walkabout which has some pretty severe bronzing and also wouldn't finish a play through. Gonna send the disc off this week.

My disc has bronzed. It was still playable but I assume not for very long

Kiss Me Deadly was released a good year after Criterion switched replicators, and no discs from the new replicator have ever previously been reported as bronzed. Some of the discs from that new replicator have glitched/frozen at the layer change, but that seemed to be from day 1, not a condition that appeared after years, and it's been pretty rare overall.

"Bronzing" doesn't seem to be caused by one specific thing, considering how many replicators worldwide that have had problems with it at some point, so I suppose it's possible from any replicator. Hopefully it's super super rare from Criterion's post-2010 replicator...

Can you post the IFPI mould number? (See the first post of this thread for a picture of where that is.) And are you 100% sure it is really bronzed? Sometimes discs just have a lighter look.

If it's dead, Criterion will replace it. I was just in touch with Jon Mulvaney about a disc that damaged in a recent order, and while I was at it, I mentioned a couple of discs from the Bronze Age that I needed replacing (and dragged my heels about). Ten years on, and they're still happy to replace bad discs.

If you go to the section of the film immediately after the skip, can you rewind slowly and then watch the section of the film skipped, or does the whole player freeze and not allow any of the roughly 5 minute chunk to play? If you can rewind through the scene in question it's a laser/layer issue. If the full scene is more or less missing and you can't see any of it regardless then the disc is unfortunately messed up.
I know this is a few months old, and I’ve only tried it on one player (the only working player in my house), but I was not able to rewind fully for that chunk of the movie. There was like a three minute section that I could not access at all.

The whole disc looks 'golden' - like some DVDs back in the day. I don't remember if the KISS ME DEADLY disc always looked like that but I've never seen a Blu Ray looking 'golden' so I assume it's a bronzing effect.

I've just checked my copy of Criterion's KISS ME DEALY and it looks more "tanned" than I would like it, but it still seems to play fine (I fast forwarded the entire movie and tried some random extra features).

I don't know if it will get worse, ir certainly looks iffy. I already had to exchange some 15 discs + when Criterion announced their replacement program.

Yeah, that's a Sony-pressed disc, not a Sonopress-pressed disc. All the bronzing Criterion discs were from Sonopress. If Kiss Me Deadly really is bronzing, that's the first Sony-pressed disc to be reported as bronzing - ever, to my knowledge.

Hopefully it's just a slightly different color? I don't know. Sucks if it's really bronzing.

My copy of KISS ME DEADLY doesn't have the usual "silvery" sheen to it, but I wouldn't say it looked bronzed. Anyway, I played the entire movie yesterday, and one of the supplements, and it played fine.

Could it be the color of the print side of the disc that comes through and makes it appear bronzier than other discs, since blu rays are somewhat transparent?

Criterion discs sometimes look more like a uniform champagne color than just silver.

Here are two pictures of a Criterion disc that has definite bronzing. Notice how dark and how uneven it is on the disc's playback surface:
