Wow, that's pretty cool. The lady who's handling the customer service email for Paramount has been pretty great. Even though it took their fulfillment department almost 5 months to send everything to me, she's been communicative and helpful throughout the process, and last week I finally got the last of my defective disc replacements from Paramount.

I never received any emails, this replacement just turned up out of the blue. I honestly didn’t think I would get anything. Well done Paramount

Tried two different copies of the 2011 MGM/Fox Midnight Cowboy Blu-ray and neither will play in my LG 4K UHD player. The loading screen comes up, then the screen goes black. Anyone else run into issues with this one?

Haven't had this problem with any other discs yet!

I played my MGM edition without any issue last night, but mine may be from a later pressing as it was in one of those flimsy eco-cases. I'm not sure how common eco cases were in 2011.

My ancient blu-ray of Face/Off played fine, too.

The copy I have of Jade looks a bit bronzy and has a whole bunch of circles on the play side and yet played fine. Blus can be so weird. I've had ones with the tiniest scratches that may skip entire chapters or worse and on the flip side ones that look totally rotted that play without issue.

Just checked my copy of Psycho II and it had no signs of bronzing and played flawlessly. I bought the copy back in 2013 so it must be just some random copies that are bad or I just got lucky

Mine was like that too, but it's been at least 5 years ago that I discovered it.

Also, checked my copy of Splinter and it played fine (it does have a slight gold color though).

Oh, wow. My copy of The Poseidon Adventure is bad, showing the same freeze/glitchy playback like Psycho II was doing (past the 1 hour mark - probably at the layer change).

Luckily I have a UK steelbook and that disc is fine. That's twice this month I've been saved by a back-up copy!

One possibility is that its your player. When my Sony player started dying in 2020, it was the layer change where problems manifested.

^ It could be your player. I had an LG blu-ray player that didn't like Fox blu-rays, which Poseidon Adventure is. The movie would pixelate several times throughout (though it never froze). By the fourth disc this was happening with, I realized all the affected discs were Fox blu-rays. Watched those same discs in my old Panasonic blu-ray player and they played flawlessly. For a time, I left both players hooked up to the same TV and would use the Panasonic for Fox discs. LG played everything else fine.

That's what happened with my Sony player years ago: had trouble with only FOX discs. This time it's not the player, had the same result in 2 different players. It was actually first reported by someone on HTF.

Don't see any mentions of it, but The Warlords won't load. There are no scratches and no signs of bronzing. It's weird because I watched Jade the other day that had bronzing and some bubble looking spots, yet it played fine. Kind of an aside, but Warlords is the only sd title I have on Vudu since the old code sheet unknowingly redeems in sd quality. It's almost like Vudu telepathically made my blu copy not work after contacting them about an upgrade to digital hd a while back to which they rejected because of no decade or so old receipt on hand.

Look at the data side for a brown ring around the center hole.

Just wanted to say thanks for these posts regarding filling in the Paramount form. I filled in the form for my dead as a dodo Zodiac disc 2 (US release) and then about 3-4 weeks later received a complete replacement. I'm also UK based and they helped me out without question, just had to provide proof of ownership.

I only wish other major labels had a service like this for blatant failed discs. There is no way pressed discs should be failing within 10 years. CD's from mid 80's are still going strong for me so its not the technology it must be materials being used in certain plants and/or at certain times which after a while fail and render the disc useless.

what's fascinating is how on earth double and triple layer discs are made . There's nothing on the net about it . Minor miracle how they pull it off
