If Peyton wants to maximize his chance of winning another championship I can't see how San Francisco isn't his best opportunity. This is a 13-3 team that came very close to making the Super Bowl with Alex Smith at QB. Plus he'd have Manningham, Crabtree and Davis to throw the ball to.

If Alex Smith doesn't want to sign the contract with 49ers, then let him go.

The defense and kickers are the main reason why they did so well last year. If we had a healthy Manning last year, they would have gone 16-0. And Manning and team would have scored 50 - 35 against the New Orleans game because Smith couldn't get the damn ball in the endzone early in the game. I'm tired of the under/over throw balls from Alex.

Manning turns all the receivers GREAT...while Smith make them look horrible LOL.

The next new QB should do well with the current defense and kickers and wide receivers now.

And who knows about the future...even if we had Alex Smith...he could be injured on the first play of the season.

The Sacramento Bee reports that the Seahawks are scheduled to host free agent Alex Smith after his Sunday meeting with the Dolphins.
Perhaps most interestingly from the Bee's report is the fact multiple sources tell beat writer Matt Barrows that Smith is "upset" with the 49ers for their pursuit of Peyton Manning, and there is a "growing belief" Smith might not return to San Francisco regardless of Manning's whereabouts. Smith is also unhappy with his agents, who rep both him and Manning, and the San Francisco Chronicle has reported Smith is considering firing CAA. In 2011, the Niners did everything in their power to minimize Smith's impact on games, consistently keeping his pass attempts totals low and beating opponents with running game and defense. Clearly, they're not going to go out of their way to keep him.

The only problem is if Manning takes one bad hit and then your left without a QB. That's something else they gotta think about too.

Cause if we lose both Smith or Manning, were screwed without a QB. Not unless Harbaugh is gonna jump in there.

Actually why I'm surprised your team didn't make a run at Kyle Orton, also why I'm surprised they're not in the mix for Matt Flynn, even if I think he's over-rated. Maybe they're hoping Tannehill will drop to them.

Don't the Niners have Colin Kaepernick? I honestly thought he'd be their starter going into last season as he seemed to have more potential than Alex Smith. I'll bet Kaepernick would still be a better backup than most NFL teams have.

I'll take Colin over Smith. Colin can hand off the ball to Gore like Smith.

There is a reason why SF kicker broke records and score more points than the receivers

If we didn't have the defense like we did in SF last year, they team wouldn't have made it in the playoff with Smith as QB.

I would like to see Colin learning from Manning while he waits for his opportunity.

Smith wants more money so he doesn't want to sign with the Niners after making 50 mil without any playoff appearance. So, the Niners need to take action by checking out Manning. I guess Smith wants more money instead of a potential Super Bowl ring...

Washington Redskins Could Sue NFL Over Salary Cap Ruling
A source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that the Redskins and Cowboys could be going "nuclear" with the NFL as soon as Monday.

More specifically, the two teams are contemplating suing anyone and everyone connected to the sudden removal of $46 million in total cap space over the next two years, based on the contention that their treatment of the term "uncapped year" too literally somehow created a competitive disadvantage. Even though no rules or policies were violated.
Those are two powerful people I wouldn't want to go up against even if it is the NFL we're like #1 and 2 in franchise worth

Wow, there's a surprise. Didn't see Seattle as a likely destination. Salary seems reasonable though.

It'll be interesting to see how much money Miami throws at Alex Smith. They might be getting desperate.

They cut loose Henne already. Does Miami even have any QB left on the roster outside of Matt Moore? And with the #8 pick there aren't any QB's worth drafting with that pick. Though I do think some team will reach on Tannehill for lack of options. Tannehill is at best a late 1st round/early 2nd round pick, but I'll be get goes in the top-15 if not top-10.

If they want to do that more power to them. Tannehill is not worth that kind of pick. What a disastrous offseason for the Dolphins!

Yep they got him in elementary level football, but he's about to show them what a college level beatdown looks like

Mario Williams will be so tired from trying to stop greatness he'll have to sit out for two years to recover
