Hey supersix4
Quote:
Aikman compared Romo favorably to a first-ballot Hall of Famer: himself.

"I think Tony already is a better quarterback than I was," Aikman told the Brownsville Herald while in the South Texas town Tuesday for a Wingstop publicity event. "I know how quarterbacks are judged, but as far as his play-making ability and the things that he is capable of doing, he is a far more athletic quarterback, capable of making more plays than I ever was able to."

As Aikman alluded, quarterbacks are judged by winning, especially in the playoffs. Romo (.610) actually has a slightly better regular-season winning percentage than Aikman (.570), but they’re in different stratospheres as far as playoff success goes. Romo has a 1-3 postseason record; Aikman owns three Super Bowl rings and an 11-5 postseason record.

Romo’s individual stats are much more impressive than Aikman’s, which can be partially attributed to the NFL becoming a progressively more passing-friendly league.

Romo has a career passer rating of 96.9, which ranks second in NFL history behind Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers. He’s thrown for 20,834 yards and 149 touchdowns in the equivalent of about five full seasons as a starter, putting him on pace to shatter Aikman’s franchise records (32,942 yards and 165 touchdowns).

But Romo will never be considered in the class of Aikman and Roger Staubach unless the Cowboys win a title during his tenure.

"He has a good team around him," Aikman said. "Hopefully -- and I believe this will happen -- I believe that he will win a Super Bowl before he is done playing."

(I'm just glad the Packers didn't get the guy).
This is twice the Jaguars missed the opportunity to get Tebow. During the 2010 draft, and today. I bet anyone a million dollars that this will be a reason why we lose more fans, and possibly blackouts due to the fact the Jags stay away from big name players. Our GM Gene Smith does not like attention, or the extra media coverage.

Perhaps the biggest media circus in the NFL, not to mention playing in the same stadium as a 2 time Super Bowl champion QB and the defending Super Bowl champions, lot of pressure on Sanchez and Tebow to succeed this season.

NFL suspended Rams defensive coordinator Gregg Williams indefinitely for his role in the Saints' bounty scandal.
He's out for at least the 2012 season. Commissioner Roger Goodell will review his case next offseason and consider reinstatement. Williams received the harshest punishment, as he instituted the program in New Orleans after similar systems in Washington and Buffalo. Assistant head coach Dave McGinnis, formerly the Cardinals' coach and coordinator, is expected to take over as Rams' defensive boss.

I just can't wait for more unbiased color commentary by Aikman of Dallas games next year.

Actually(not me) most Cowboys fans hate it when Aikman announces our games because they think he goes out of his way to be as negative as possible in his commentary.

They're wrong. They mistake his intense insight and interest into the success of the Cowboys as negativity.

I really didn't expect the Saints to get hit as hard as they did. I thought Payton was looking at a 4-game suspension at worst and more likely a very large fine. The indefinite Gregg Williams suspension didn't surprise me because there's people saying on the record that he's been doing this at multiple jobs. It's going to be interesting to see what happens with the players involved. I could see the league giving several suspensions as well.

The loss of draft picks is going to hurt a lot because they also don't have a first round pick in 2012 (traded to New England for 2011 pick to acquire Mark Ingram) and a team like the Saints with several high paid players need draft picks with cheaper salaries to solidify the roster.

Holy shit they laid the smackdown on those involved with the bounty.

Sean Payton suspended 1 year
Greg Williams suspended indefinitely
Lose 2 second round picks in next 2 years
Lots of fines and GM/coach personnel getting hit hard

Basically they paid players during games during the Playoffs to intentionally hurt them and knock them out the game. Can I say the NFC Championship game where Brett Favre was decked by Jonathan Vilma a few years back?

Heard on the radio that defensive coordinator Steve Spagnola or offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael will likely become the Saints head coach for the season. They said Joe Vitt likely would have taken over but he was suspended six games.

I feel a bit bad for Tebow. He probably has no idea what he's in for going to that NY circus. By the time he's done there he might decide to just return to doing his missionary work.

Thats why... Even though its a better staff, and team, a coach can get fired at anytime, those fans are rabid, and will turn on anyone

Aikman doesn't have the gifts I believe Romo has, he also had HOFers all over his teams. So its not really a 1 for 1.

Was Carmichael there when Bountygate was going on?

I feel bad for him, too. He has the NY media to deal with and the ridiculous Jets operation. Rex Ryan is not a Tebow-like guy. Sanchez has had more sex in the last 10 minutes that Tebow ever had. All the locker room drama, etc.

Apparently Payton's suspension goes into effect on April 1st. That's even worse since he can't even work with the team in the offseason. Anyone know if coaches and GM's have an appeal process or is this final?
